I've got mixed feelings. It probably will be revised due to the winning margin but Harswell won with plenty in hand.  if mark Winn hadn't spent so much time trying to keep it straight and let it drift over it would won easily and though the interference would have been more severe he'd have kept the race. He's going to be punished for riding in a way stewards want him to ride. Next time he shouldn't worry about that, he would win the race and keep it and take a short ban.

This highlights the absurdity of our system - if the jockey on the winner had not tried to keep him straight, but just ridden him out fully, he would have given the fav a bump but won 2 lengths - therefore keeps the race.
As it is, hes tried his best to keep him straight and will probably get chucked out for it..

Watched the race on live video. After race had finished and before stewards was announced they showed the head on. The winner was hanging badly and carried the fav across to rail. Stott simply couldn’t ride his horse out…at all. The fact the winner won snugly on the snaff is immaterial. There are rules you have to abide by and these were clearly breached imo. That’s my pennyworth.
Report Rico-Dangleflaps October 17, 2025 2:02 PM BST

imo NO!
Report elise October 17, 2025 2:03 PM BST
yes it drifyed but was easily the better horse, barely made contact certainly didn't put it over the rails and the lad up top did his best to stop it as many have mentioned, don't think stott stopped riding at any point

Stewards spend much of their time stewarding telling jockeys they must do everything to keep them straight. Invariably it goes in one ear and out the other. The one time a fptp's jockey does actually do everything to keep it straight, possibly costing it the race in the process (ie prioritised safety), hard to believe they would throw it out unless it was unavoidable. It occurs so rarely, I don't recall any benchmarks. That's how they want jockeys to ride, so not surprising to see it not being penalised.

Interesting interview post race made by Chris Dixon on racing to website. He agreed he was 90 pc sure would go. Winning distance originally called head changed to neck.
Report andyl October 17, 2025 2:40 PM BST
I don’t know how to upload the interview but go to racing to and it will be on there. Some interesting comments on twitter too. Nexus bets has shown head on and you can see just how badly the horse is lugging over carrying the fav towards the rail. I didn’t say it took him over the rails.

Report Cider October 17, 2025 2:45 PM BST
Yes the official distance is material as further than a short head it has to be probable the second would have won otherwise. Since the winner still 'won' comfortably without being ridden out, that's pretty hard to argue.

Report Rico-Dangleflaps October 17, 2025 6:24 PM BST
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference from approaching the final furlong when the winner, HARSWELL ANGEL (IRE), ridden by Mark Winn, interfered with NIGHT MISSION (IRE), placed second, ridden by Kevin Stott. The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved HARSWELL ANGEL (IRE)’s placing as the gelding always appeared to be travelling better than NIGHT MISSION (IRE) and despite being carried of his intended line, Stott never had to stop riding and NIGHT MISSION (IRE) appeared to lose no momentum, before being beaten a comfortable, non-extended neck. The interference was found to be accidental in that HARSWELL ANGEL (IRE) was hanging left-handed despite Winn’s best efforts to correct the gelding, carrying NIGHT MISSION (IRE) off its intended line.
