Owned by Jim Joel. Ran on the flat for him, trained by T Leader at 2 and 3, and T Waugh at 4. Ran 2nd at Epsom as a 4yo an hour after Sir Ivor won the Derby.

Then went to Turnell. Split Major Rose and Persian War in the Oteley Hurdle at Sandown in Feb '71. He'd won his previous 4 races.

He was a half brother to William Pitt, who was a pretty decent hurdler.

Chapmans Peak only won 6 races, one on the flat and five over hurdles. That sequence of four was the high point of his winning, although he did finish in front of Coral Diver and Persian War at Cheltenham the following season. For a horse who ran second in a Houghton on his second start he was disappointing on the flat. It took him another two years to win under that code.
