They did consider asking the forum's opinion before making the decision but after careful consideration thought it best to decide themselves.

french tracks may or may not be better but his record in UK & ire is diabolical taking into account what he's ridden

I wouldn't be across french racing well enough to know
my criticism of him purely UK & ire tracks, different style of racing etc

Subjective debate and one that could go on all year never mind all day , best to believe what you're comfortable believing as you'll not change anyone's view.

If you are of the opinion that Soumillon is week, or diabolical, or
Anything other than a top class jockey, racings not for you??
By:
Hayden
When: 05 Oct 25 14:17
fwiw i think he's great and a top class rider but like every jockey that's ever ridden a racehorse sometimes he isn't , that's when the subjectivity kicks , the interpretation of a jockeys ride will never differ so much as on a betting forum.

Wouldn't get the rides on top animals if he weren't up to it.

ChatGPT is your friend:

Yes — Michael Barry Tabor was “warned off” from British racecourses (i.e. excluded from them) in 1970 by the Jockey Club.

Here are some more details:

The reason was allegations that he had paid two jockeys (Duncan Hughes and Tom Jennings) for tips, and promised to reward a third jockey (Clive Chapman) similarly.

The stewards found those allegations proved and “ordered that Michael Barry Tabor be henceforth excluded from all racecourses licensed by the Jockey Club.”

It was initially a “lifetime ban”, but on appeal it was reduced; he was suspended for about three years.

If you want, I can dig up exactly when he was reinstated, and whether there were any lingering restrictions.
