look at its form - find me a flaw - no guarantees it wins but has to be competitive - won at course 3lbs above a mark it finished 2nd off in the same class of race - no absence no ground issues etc (that i can see)
‘drifts’ like a motor-powered barge from hours before the start ie not a case of sweating-up or going free to the start
pulled-up with half the race to go - whos investigating stuff like this ?
yep - pocket talking but i halved my stake as it was very obvious what might happen
it is absolutely blatant - it was a mare so maybe its been spotted that shes in season or something ie there could be a legitimate reason but its needs investigated - i agree punters can actually use the info - you avoid handicaps im getting closer to accepting these drifters are best left alone irrespective of their form but just ignoring shocking performances coupled with drifts makes a joke of things
theyre not machines etc - plenty so-called good things underperform - thats absolutely fine but not if accompanied by a massive pre race / several hour drift

absolutely nothing of note in the comments in running in racing post - in 21 previous runs has never been PU before - in 4 previous runs for the current trainer won 2 and 2nd in the other 2 - won at the track and distance ran well on the ground placed in the grade etc etc

Carrying 12 stone today. No seven pound claimer like the previous two races. Gone up 27 pound in four months.
Looks like it’s done remarkably well recently compared to its early campaign. Can only go up so much before it stops them.

the 12st thing is a fair point however looking at the weight as just the nominal amount she had previously been placed carrying 11st 10 before and has carried > 11st lots of times so its not like this can be a wee tiny thing that cant carry weight
yep as they go up the handicap at some point they can no longer win - looking at weight in relation to others shes only 3lb higher than the last run unless you believe the claimer is value for the allowance (i dont have a strong opinion on this) under which she was placed
not sure if you saw the race but the horse travelled ok-ish but didnt come under any pressure at all just lost a lot of ground in a short space of time while not obviously being ridden and was pulled up - like something amiss type thing - not what id necessarily expect from a run where the handicapper has caught up where they tend to run a decent race and just get flatten out after coming under an expected amount of pressure from the jockey
shes also ran once per month for the last few months so maybe just needs a break
a case can be made for why the horse might not win or even finish placed but the drift basically predicted it had a high probability of running no race what so ever which is what happened

i just watched the replay - horse goes from second to detached last within a few strides with no overt signs of being ridden by the jockey and commentator goes “suddenly got very tired” lol
lots of reasons why horses dont run their race but the manner of the PU i would have at least expected some throw-away line about hating todays version of the ground or needing a break or something - which would then just need the pre-race drift explained
