Sad news a real character

I remember the story when he retired he had always wanted a nice car can’t remember if it was a jaguar or a Mercedes on driving it home for the first time he hadn’t realised the gap up his garden wasn’t wide enough so straight back to the repair shop.

Very good point Elise there was one who would stand on one leg when the score reached 111 but I don’t know his name,

I am so pleased he was so well treated by Yorkshire CC....I think he was an ambassador or alike and would attend all the home games being well fed and watered and fussed over. I have read a few of his stories from years gone by and he was incredibly funny. The players loved him as did the fans and that speaks volumes.

A legend of the game albeit in Umpire form. Another legend leaves us unfortunately, but as said previously what a fine knock. RIP Dicky

R.I.P.   As English as Roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding.  A character and a decent man.
