If there is a better scam film than 'The Sting@ I have yet to see it. RIP Mr Redford, and I bet that right now, wherever it may be, you are again shaking hands with Paul Newman and wondering what you two could have done differently so as to get away at the end of Butch Cassidy without being shot to bits!!! |

His acting reminded me of Cagney. Crazy? Not really. When asked the essence of acting Cagney said, “Look the other guy in the eye - say what you mean and mean what you say”! When you watch him in the future think of that and see what I mean. |

The studio wanted a more established star like Steve McQueen or Warren Beatty, but Newman, who was already cast as Butch Cassidy, argued for Redford. Newman believed Redford was the right actor for the role, despite the studio's doubts about Redford's lack of film experience

Paul Newman admitted when questioned in interview on BBC’s Talking Pictures, why he chose Robert Redford for the role. That it was his wife who suggested he should do so. And he was glad he had had the sense to be convinced by her to do so.
