Top actor - especially in the 1960's and 1970's.

If there is a better scam film than 'The Sting@ I have yet to see it.

RIP Mr Redford, and I bet that right now, wherever  it may be, you are again shaking hands with Paul Newman and wondering what you two could have done differently so as to get away at the end of Butch Cassidy without being shot to bits!!!

One of those actors writ large in the culture of the seventies.  A blurry good one too.  Produced, directed, did many of his own stunts, a real icon of film.

One of the greats. Three Days of the Condor, All the Presidents Men, Brubaker and even Spy Game, some of my favourites.

It’s his delivery Hayden.  Just brilliant.
His acting reminded me of Cagney.  Crazy?  Not really.  When asked the essence of acting Cagney said, “Look the other guy in the eye - say what you mean and mean what you say”!  When you watch him in the future think of that and see what I mean.

Another icon has gone. This will have significance for anyone who watched his films from teenage years to adulthood and older. The time to depart this world is not that far away for those of this generation.

RIP Mr Redford!

Didn‘t we get Alias smith and Jones, from the Sundance Kid?
If it wasn’t for Paul Newman, we might never of known, Robert Redford
As the director of TSK, refused to cast RR, numerous times.
PN insisted they cast him

RIP.

Always thought the Last Castle was an underrated film of his.

A bit hammy but watching him and James Gandolfini go to war with each other is always worth watching.

Newman insisted that Robert Redford be cast as the Sundance Kid in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The studio wanted a more established star like Steve McQueen or Warren Beatty, but Newman, who was already cast as Butch Cassidy, argued for Redford. Newman believed Redford was the right actor for the role, despite the studio's doubts about Redford's lack of film experience

Paul Newman admitted when questioned in interview on BBC’s Talking Pictures, why he chose Robert Redford for the role.  That it was his wife who suggested he should do so. And he was glad he had had the sense to be convinced by her to do so.

Apart from the big films, presidents, butch, the way we were.

The natural,3 days of condor and as a river runs through it,were all great.

Plus sundance helped loads of other great films to be made.

Each took their craft very seriously and it was Redford's talent, he recalled, that led Newman to fight for the younger star to play the Sundance Kid opposite his Butch Cassidy. “He said, 'I want to work with an actor,'” Redford said.18 hours ago
