On another thread earlier, I mentioned how Rosallion's come very close to being one of those rare performers who've managed to win G1 races at 2,3 & 4.
I remembered that stablemate Olympic Glory did so and I was then thinking how seldom a horse maintains top-class form for three consecutive seasons
and still manages to prevail at G1 level.

A notable recent example is Inspiral who did the tri-ennial treble but alas, had slightly regressed a few pounds at 5yo and so failed to emulate the great
Triptych in doing it for 4 consecutive yrs...which Luxembourg also achieved.
Then again, the magnificent French mare did it at 2/3/4/5 & 6 - I'd expect she's the only one!

It's difficult to know where to look first to collate a list of them but after a bit of a brainstorming session and I managed to come up with a shortlist which
I double-checked on the RP website.

I had a browse at the best of Aidan's lot over the decades as well as the usual suspects of days gone by like Stoute & Cecil.
After seeing Bosra Sham, I immediately recognised her as a qualifier and the same for High Chaparral, Hawk Wing & Russian Rhythm.

I could possibly be wrong though I'd be confident that it seems to be no coincidence that since the promotion of many more races
to G1 (over the last 25yrs+) & increased prize money for International events there have been more performers who have hit the
jackpot with wins at 2,3 & 4. Another reason could be that the majority of yesteryear's greats often went to stud earlier.

The obvious one which everyone could name is Frankel - since then the likes of Found, Auguste Rodin & one that will surprise everyone
in Elusive Kate are three more I pinpointed.

I'm sure I've missed some very obvious & wonderful performers so a bit of assistance from someone with data/spread sheet options would be appreciated.

Tryptich.  Thanks for the reminder of this memorable racehorse.

I firmly believe she's still underrated because she was in Oh So Sharp's shadow after the Oaks demolition.
Her overall form was every bit as good as Cecil's filly though it was usually produced in defeat...albeit
against a world-beater like Dancing Brave!

For her durability & consistency I actually would rate her achievements greater than Oh So Sharp and if memory
serves, the official ratings were equal on 132...so the handicapper agrees with me on their relative form merits.

I loved Enable but the French mare was superior in my opinion...and is the best 10/12f filly since the halcyon
days of those two magnificent French fillies of the mid-70s in Allez France & Dahlia who I'm too young to have
appreciated only going by what I've read and watching videos.

The memory's failing me - I just checked up and realised that the 132 was for Miesque
and those two superb 3yo fillies from 1986 'only' reached 130.

A staggering mark for a filly - even the great Enable only hit 128!

130 marks are very rare nowadays...even for colts - very few get near that.

Just what is it that the French do to have produced such wonderful fillies & mares over the decades?

Pound for pound...they produce superior performers to ours - besides that pair you mention (Allez France & Dahlia)
when we're talking about the stellar performers...they had Three Troikas, All Along, Triptych, Miesque, Zarkava,
Goldikova & Treve.

Compare that lot to the British generational greats such as Pebbles, Oh So Sharp, Indian Skimmer, Bosra Sham &
Enable...and it should also be taken into account that we have a far greater pool - the French out-perform us.

All those mentioned achieved an official rating of at least 130 except Enable & Zarkava who both earned 128 which
emphasises just what's required to achieve such an elite rating...thereby cementing legendary status.

I'm sure I've missed a couple but I've intentionally overlooked a few superb fillies like Pawneese, Time Charter,
Salsabil & Ouija Board (& sprinters Marwell & Habibti) as they were not quite at the level of those already listed.

PS - can't believe there aren't more qualifiers for horses that've won G1s at 2/3/4 - I'd suspect a few extra but
they seem to be eluding us at the moment - I thought there'd be people on here who could readily access such data.

I had a browse at the wiki pages for Aidan, Stoute, Cecil, Gosden to see if anything jumped out at me.
I didn't study it so I've probably overlooked some obvious qualifiers - I was sure there'd be a few
over the last 25/30 yrs since they started tinkering with the G1 events.

Your criteria of winning gr. 1's at 2, 3 and 4 is a tough call for colts as they're usually retired, apart from Frankel, BG and Mill Reef you'll be pushed to find any others over 3 seasons since 1971 in Uk/Ireland. We only have the Cheveley Park, Fillies Mile, Middle Park and Dewhurst for gr. 1's here, so not many of those will still be around as 4yo.

More likely with fillies as they often stay in training, Alcohol Free won gr. 1's from 2-4, as did Laurens for Karl Burke and Love for A O'Brien,  but some multiple winning fillies can miss out a year, such as Clive Brittain's Sayyedati who won from 2-5 but not a gr. 1 as a 4yo.  Soviet Song won gr. 1's from 2-6 but missed out a gr 1 at 3 and 5yo.  You mentioned Russian Rhythm but she didn't win a gr. 1 at 2.
Multiple winner Attraction also didn't  manage a gr 1 at 2, neither did Goldikova.

Even those famous mares from abroad, Black Caviar and Winx did not win gr. 1 at 2, and Zenyatta won her multiples from 4-6..

American champion filly Beholder is the only one I know of that easily beats your criteria as she won gr. 1's every year from 2-6, no other has done that since John Henry in the 1970's.

Lucky Nine won a few out east and was dog meat back here. I’m always amazed at how they find improvement with a change of scenery and trainer.

Not that he trained him I dint think but John Moore out there was a great trainer. Loved reading his comments after working a horse,” they wouldn’t blow out a candle.”

Get all you can on.

Age shouldn’t define them, as there’s different training practices and cultures all over the globe.

Not all win a G1 abroad which for me to be a great you have to do.

And I’m aware that not all that I mentioned did that. But Frankel will never be in my greats.

And apologies I haven’t read the criteria Herbie was blocked Grin

Very few do it at every age and as Smoky said it’s less likely with colts. Was Goldikova not a champ because she didn’t win one @ 2?

The precocious is encouraged but remember that not all are  Mozart, Einstein didn’t talk until he was five or something and Vincent never painted before his 40’s.

Stoute knew not to rush.

Laurens had a very good career albeit only against her own sex.Group l at 2,3,4. She won me a lot of money but I gave a wedge of that back when she were beat by shine so bright 2019 city of York at the ebor heads up head down. Fair play to de Souza kicked round the bend and stole a length n half.

Some tremendous shouts there guys and I also doff my non-existent cap at the correction to my original
post as somehow I fcuked up and thought Russian Rhythm won the Cheveley Park...but she was beaten by
AirwaveBlush

Marchand D'or, Alcohol Free & Laurens were inspired and the latter also made me realise that Karl Burke
has recently repeated the dose with Fallen Angel.

AND I'm embarrassed to have failed to include the great Miesque in my initial post.

Smoky Hill's excellent observations about Sayeddati & Soviet Song were appreciated as was the additional
information about the US filly Beholder emulating Triptych with wins at the top level from 2-6 yrs.

PS - speaking of Triptych...her wiki page is embarrassingly inept as her fantastic career should highlight
all her runs, as is often reserved for the elite of the sport - I think only Enable's career can be in the
same conversation as regards brilliance, durability & consistency, having danced every dance for years
against the greatest colts of the 80s - she was banging her head against a brick wall when even as she
improved with maturity (like her dam Trillion) she had some real superstars on her plate.

First Dancing Brave, then Reference Point & Mtoto the year after who unsurprisingly all proved too hot to handle.
Obviously Enable had a better CV for winning big pots but Triptych's my favourite for many reasons in nigh on 50yrs!

I'd update it myself...but I'm shít with tech stuffPlain
Maybe Loyal Honcho could have a blast?

Songbird won the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies at two (obviously); Santa Anita Oaks as a 3-y-o and a couple of G1s at four incl. Ogden Phipps Stakes (Gr1).

And you can add the brilliantly volatile Fierceness, winner of the Breeders' Cup Juvenile; Florda Derby and Travers Stakes at three and whose win in the Pacific Classic a couple of weeks ago, where he trounced Journalism, gained him last-minute inclusion into this list.
