But as you ask, Fahey hasn't had the best of years by his standards (so far). Of his main Yorkshire training rivals, he's behind Messrs Burke, Johnston, O'Meara and (Tim) Easterby in the trainer standings.

No George, I was addressing anyone who blamed the jockey(s). I did back the Marquand mount in the first but it looked a big unbalanced backward type to me.

anyone who dosent see that the jockey was not at fault in the first hasnt a clue,he gave the winner the run of the race and made up about 8 lengths in 2 furlongs and still doing his best work at the line,if thats not the jockeys fault then what is.and for the record id no bet in the race,some of the rides these horses are getting in maidens are comical,a typicall example was another little runntt yesterday cieran fallon on morshadi,not at all saying he cost him the race or anything like that but they might as well attached a big pillow to the horse for the effort he made and as previous poster said they wonder why the public are detesting the game more and more every day

I will have to book myself into Specsavers as I am guilty of thinking Marquand gave the horse an awful ride. Whether it was deliberate or not after the 1st 2 furlongs I knew the fav would struggle to win from the position the jockey had put him in. The betting market before hand dont help as fav drifted and the winner came in in price.

What a difference in a ride there by Tom......from the off you could see he was up for it....not like his ride yesterday

I didn't see the race when I posted yesterday, but have now, and something has been missed by the analysts above who criticised Marquand, and that is the horse was drawn 7/7 and when they broke he was taking a grip (which is noted in the RP form comment), so Marquand had a decision to make, either get cover or allow his mount to run keenly on the outer, and as I would expect any top jockey to do in that situation, he chose to get cover rather than allow the horse to ruin its chance by running too freely, and this enabled the horse to finish his race off, but unfortunately for his backers, the winner, from a yard which has now had three winners at the meeting and a big-priced second, kept rolling.

I agree with a lot of what you say George and yes he had a bad draw yesterday but to drop the horse as far back as he did didnt sit right with me and the market spoke volumes b4 the race

In fairness 4/9 looked pretty short for that debut run. The winner might be okay but there wasn't much else in the race.
It wore a hood, which is there to keep them calm, suggesting he wasn't straight forward. He was slow away and looked a big green, yesterday he still looked far from the finished article and will undoubtedly make a better 3 year old.
The going was opposite to Hamilton, the tracks are very different, stable form not the best.
Imo there was loads of reasons why it did drift and it had nothing to do with the ride.

I don't know if or not the colt had been keen to post, but if he had been, then that could have been a reason for the drift and influenced Marquand's decision to try and get the colt switched off asap.
