Who is Skydia to dictate to Trainers?
By:
She thinks she is able to.
I recall an interview with Balding at Sandown and he really got frustrated with her continually pressing him on it. Coming across like she thinks he should have been dumped. |
By:
Lydia was most upset at Goodwood that he wouldn't agree to an interview despite her saying she would not mention the unmentionable
By:
So it's Murphy skipping her? Don't blame him.
However half the rtv crew is at York for the jolly. No reason why someone else couldn't get an interview with him. |
By:
Let's see how well it turns out for her
By:
Problem with a lot of these issues, a lot of wild allegations go on, and a lot of the allegations prove false. Journalists get excited understandably when stories like this happen.
What strikes me in racing something that happens in front of our eyes journalists do not take on? Why do they get on there high horse about somethings they see dont see the whole story in front of their eyes, yet when they can see the whole episode, they are not as vocal? |
By:
herlop is immovable
she refused to work with mellish and instead of being told to grow up, they acceded and he has been moved around her since mine jew, murphy a nob himself so who who knows whose fault it is |
By:
A champagne socialist to boot
By:
My take is that it wasn't journalistic. Or at least only the 'modern' style of journalist that uses their platform to lobby hard for things they want to happen, not just reporting on what happens/asking questions about them. Seemed to me she was taking a moral judgement on Balding, ie inferring that Balding was happy to allow Murphy to carry on with 'addictive behaviours' as long as he was still booting home the winners. It's really not her business imo.
By:
dont boot her, she might win
By:
She is in a minority and says what she thinks. Unlike the vast majority perched firmly on the fence.
By:
Ms Hislop may be representing the minority of whom are afraid to put their head above the parapet to say what they are thinking. Ms Hislop is gutsy, whilst others in her industry are putting their bread and butter before integrity and safety.
As for the BHA it resembles a quango not fit-for-purpose with a string of ineffectual leaders. |
By:
The problem with the likes of Lydia, they may make point, however on safer ground. There a lot bigger stories than Murphy she could take up, I am not saying avoiding just does not take up. They will all only go so far.
By:
I obviouly missed it but what did she fall out with Mellish about please? Were always on tv together for years.
By:
A dinner bill I heard....ps if they are reading just a job. 2ND your question doorman99, never really thought about it before.
By:
Ms Hislop is a horseracing presenter thus only correct and professional to ask the "question" than most were afraid to; she might have a cause to. I still remember clearly Ms Balding confronted Sheikh Mo about the doping scandal of one of his two trainers. Sheikh Mo glared at her, and hurried off; the BHA did next to nothing except accepted Sheikh Mo's ignorance and innocence.
I thought Mr Balding esp Mrs Balding would have been more principled and righteous on the matter. I certainly would. |
By:
As a point of principal,I expect implausible to get anything wrong.
He rarely lets me down ![]() |
By:
he is guided by that principal
By:
She doesn't actually outright state that she thinks Balding is greedy or dangerous, it's just implied with the line of questioning, ie she wanted more blood. That's my opinion.
Fair enough if that's what you think, write an opinion piece. I don't feel like it was appropriate as part of interviewing a trainer after a winner, clearly Balding didn't either. For me it's a version of virtue signalling and not the pursuit of good journalism. |
By:
Skydia would be waiting for some time for a post race interview if I were Balding
By:
Childish P….typical tbh….
By:
Why should they go in the huff like a few on here ffs….
By:
Did you leave early Quixall? Never mind always next year.
By:
Still here i do have a mobile phone Cag…..
By:
I’ll head up tomorrow after the hannon good thing wins the 7f race……the one they consider group 1
By:
Should win Quixall, look forward to a few photos to keep shafter silent?
By:
Disgusting disco music during the parade today before the Nunthorpe…..hideous imv…..
I asked a person who looked important why,he said the customer enjoys it ffs…..deadbeat… |
By:
Are you covering all your expenses as you predicted Quixall, hope you are but tbh Hamilton was todays happy hunting ground here, hope you did not Miss Iris Dancer or Big Jim in the last?
By:
BTW Quixall the Hannon horse has won a couple of GP1's so it would be fair for them to consider he is that class. Tomorrow the first time for him at 7F since a baby and first time the race has GP1 status.
Sure you knew that but can you explain why you think he is a good thing? |
By:
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Perhaps not David Bailey quality tbf Quixall but a fair mix of Fakenham, Yarmouth and Longchamps, a few of York would give us an idea of individual talent, you would be 1.01 fav imvho? |
By:
why did lydia fall out with melish
she decided there was more to her life than waiting for melish to stick a bet up ![]() ![]() , she decided 137 appearences between them was more than enough time ![]() |
By:
The tail wagging the dog rarely works in the end
By:
Does this really matter?
Are people hanging on to every word of a presenter or what a jockey says in an interview? |
By:
I remember a time when Aceform could string a few winners together. But its all gone pear shaped since he purchased a 5% share in a 600k cistern from some mediocre Tuna angling nutter on the forum, he's all over the shop

In the pecking order of things that matter in the real world, it's pretty low down. This is simply an observation, in the context of racing tv it matters. If true. That either the champion jockey is dodging interviews on a dedicated, subscription supported horse racing channel. Or a pundit working for the channel is dodging interviewing the champion jockey.
We got an interview with Asfoora's groom after the race, I'd say most viewers would be more interested in the winning jockey's analysis of the big race of the day. I wasn't sure if it was true, and who was dodging who. It appears from what another poster has said, it's coming from Murphy's end. |
By:
Which do you prefer? Ryan Moore growling away and trying to get to the weighing room, Oisin Murphy swerving an interview or a quick chat with a groom or owner who really wants to celebrate? I prefer seeing the horses in the paddock for the next race but we are all different I suppose. The cult of talking heads has taken over sports coverage and adds nothing.
By:
You can please some of the people some of the time but never all of the people all of the time , as Sage states we all have different expectations and it really is as simple as that.
Good luck today all ![]() |
By:
Murphy is actually very informative and his analysis is of value. The value of Moore's analysis very much depends on who is asking the questions, some of the people he has nothing but contempt for and doesn't try to disguise that. If you however see GOB interviewing him, there is value. But really that's a different debate. I am referring here to a specific situation, ie post race jockey interview/analysis simply not happening due to something occurring away from the sport. Well, that's what I am speculating on. Only as I have an affliction of noticing patterns.

Greatly admire her talent but...."Who is Skydia to dictate to Trainers? " Everyone on planet earth if she can.
