Remember the race quite well albeit in my youth , won 10 lengths from what would be hard to describe a motley crew in comparison , remember it was in the mud and would have been withdrawn only for Paul Mellon to insist it ran.

This year's York is one of the poorest I can remember, with 3 more days to go. No one horse that will be a significant market mover for The Arc either or next year's Classics.

Last bet i had at a " Festival of racing " anywhere was 2010 ( i think ) with a bad e/way double against the great Black Caviar & Frankel , this thing about all horses trying so i've a better chance of winning in the better class races is nonsense in my view.

Seen nothing over the last 15 yrs to make me change my mind , that said viewing wise i've not missed that many.

The clue is normally when you see the threads following festivals as to how they're over rated and trainers domination and all the other negatives as to why bookmkaers invariably come out on top however hard anyone tries.
