Although he won the group 1 in France with his second string, the form of AOBs horses not as good as usual.
Lion in Winter and Puppet Master both tailed off, and Los Angeles and Daytona both well beaten at odds on over the weekend.

Lion In Winter - would appear to have become a Small Faces horse - all or nothing.
Puppet Master - scrambled home in the Lingfield Derby Trial from his tenderly handled stablemate - is he any good anyway?
Los Angeles - as Aidan might say - just ready to start back - following a couple of months off having had some hard races early in the campaign.
Daytona - found out by a sharper test? Race time inside standard, but they were giving the ground as good to soft.
With respect, Jack, wouldn't want to be judging stable form from those four horses.

That's 3 more fancied ones turned over to go with the 4 at the weekend - Italy, Lambourn and Delacroix
George, any excuses why the defeats of the early fav for next years 2,000gns, a dual Derby winner, and an Eclipse winner, shouldn't be an indicator that the stable might not be in the best of form?
You would think Minnie Hauk should win at long odds on, but I wouldn't be rushing into backing any of his others this week

Lambourn - similar comments apply to what I said above about Los Angeles.
Italy - too keen early / beaten by a better horse.
Delacroix - beaten by a better horse on the day.
Jack, if you're not satisfied with those explanations / excuses, always forgive a horse a below par one at York.

George, your analysis of how the horses ran, is a definition of what form actually is - they all performed under par based on their previous form lines and their prices (apart from Italy maybe).
If I had put those 7 horses in an accumulator, I would have bet my life against none of them winning! (Just a saying, not literally).
For so many to get turned over, and mostly well beaten, with no hard luck stories, would indicate to me that many in the yard are running below expectations ie the stable's in poor form.

You'd wonder what excuses they'd come up with for Delacroix, but what Ryan Moore / Aidan O'Brien said would appear to be correct ie ignoring the pacemaker, the pace steadied and when the sprint for home commenced, Ombudsman was the better positioned.
Delacroix appeared to hit the line well, to suggest he didn't lose because of some perceived stable form issue, but rather was unsuited by how the race panned out.
The two mile handicap came out better on the furlong-per-furlong times.

Why don't more jockeys go and ride in the states in the winter and get a clock in their head ?. Surely going the optimum pace for your horse over the distance would give it the best chance of winning.
