Unfortunately, we have decided to pull Rosallion out of the Prix Jaques Le Marois on Sunday. He has a bruised foot that he picked up in training this week which he has been treated but we aren’t completely happy and feel it only right to give him the extra days.

Anyone stupid enough to play antepost were trully shafted. Cool
Report impossible123 August 16, 2025 12:46 PM BST
It was cruel. Mr Hannon has treated the horse's supporters with disdain for not coming clean earlier about the welfare of Rosallion eg sounding a caution the horse could be scratched. I think this is 3rd unlucky for his backers.

If you can’t take/accept withdrawals, for any reason, you shouldn’t bet ante-post.
It’s a very simple concept.  Blaming trainers for not advising in a£Vance is absolute bowlucks.
There must be literally thousands of horses withdrawn from planned events without any explanation given, or requested.
Report 1st time poster August 16, 2025 1:25 PM BST
that ain't the problem ,problem been trainer and jockey 2 o clock on Fri afternoon telling Chappers and punters the horse is raring to go A1 and we think he,s best miler in the world, by tea time the horse ain't running, been injured all week with a bruised foot and hasn't stepped foot outside his box, taking punters, race fans for absolute mugs
Report LoyalHoncho August 16, 2025 1:28 PM BST
Ok.  Point taken.  Mine still holds true though.
Report Mat22 August 16, 2025 1:51 PM BST
Both points valid,  Hence Antepost road to poor house,
but what leaves a bad taste in punters mouth is they must have had a pretty good idea they were not going to run it.
So the Sonng and dance telling the public its raring to go and A1 is taking the biscuit.

If they did something similar in respect of financial affairs/shares/company accounts etc etc, by now they would be in a police cell with every part of their homes/offices searched and computers seized. I had no financial involvement.
Report Delashay August 16, 2025 2:34 PM BST
Does anyone think that having run only 18 days ago (that it was a rushed afterthought to go) had an impact and or the thought of taking on fresh horses?
Report Delashay August 16, 2025 2:44 PM BST
I totally agree that they should have let people know sooner. Very shoddy to wait so long.

Why would anyone be betting it AP yesterday?
Report impossible123 August 16, 2025 2:51 PM BST
The supporters of Rosallion have been patient and understanding until now. Similarly, his owner who's not renowned for his patience in the past eg hMr Obaid removed horses from Mr Varian and Postponed  (Mr Cumani). After 2 unfortunate hiccups/results, and now this "late" bruised foot announcement the patience and loyalty from both supporters and owner could be wearing thin, I'd think.

Rosallion could have had 2 Gp 1 victories this season.
Report Cider August 16, 2025 2:58 PM BST
It's as old as the hills, if connections disclosed the horse had a problem and still ran they'd be accused of putting people away. If you bet AP you are gambling that horse is declared, if it isn't included in the final decs you've lost, for whatever reason. Doesn't get too much more complex than that.

Rosallion is 2/1 *best) for the City Of York next saturday. It's a much weaker Gp 1. If his wellness can be taken at face value 2/1 is a giveaway. But, is he? More importantly, will he run next saturday?

What was he for Deauville? 9/4? Looked short to me and anyone who played anti post ew now has that extra place.

Indeed, '1st time poster'. I was perturbed by the disclosure. There was no valid excuse for not winning the Sussex but for jockey error.

Rosallion has more or less stamped himself as an “unlucky” loser, lately at least  with a performance that strings us along to say “next time”.  The bookies must love him.

I hadn’t seen the interview with Chaoman can anyone recall what day it was?

There’s a video of Rosallion working the day before (Thursday the 14th) announcement was made. The horse was fine and Hannon seemed happy. Timmy Murphy was happy and the horse was due to ferry over on the Friday night.

Published on 15 August 2025i

Rosallion will be rerouted to the City Of York Stakes next Saturday, having been ruled out of Sunday's Prix Jacques le Marois with a bruised foot.
Trainer Richard Hannon revealed on Friday night that last year's St James's Palace Stakes winner had sustained the injury this week and has been treated. He has not, however, recovered in time for a trip to France, where he was favourite for the mile Group 1 contest.

Reporting like this the way that it’s worded makes it sound as though it was some time previously which is why I like many may have felt it was late to let people know.
More details on when the injury occurred should have been made clear, knowing that there was a video from the day before released showing the colt to be fine.

Telling Hannon says during the interview that he was a Group 1 winner at 2 the at 3 and we’d like it to be at Four.

He mentioned that he’d face many good horses in France and I believe that the decision was made to try to take in a potentially weaker race to secure that Group 1.

I can’t and am not saying that a bruised foot didn’t occur after the video of him working. The reports are too vague to confirm that, so better journalism please.

I do however think that by reading between the lines they are desperate for that Group 1 win at Four whatever the distance.

So has there been a dip in confidence to opt for an easier looking race within the camp? Those backing at short odds should contemplate that.

7F at York on fast ground imo equates more to 6F horse going up in distance, rather than milers coming down in distance, THE LONG SPRINT as the  weaver shark would describe it,Kinross type horses , class might get him through but not for mois

Fair play you’ve given your opinion and reasoning for it. It’s similar to Notable Speech dropping back for the July Cup. Which I think was just his prep for the Marois.

Taking in this it does look like it’s seen as an easier task for their colt to secure that G1.

Having only watched the card from Ascot today and seeing Levy talk with Ruby, it was very interesting to see the jock saying that he felt that Rosie wasn’t capable of doing the fractions that he could as a 3 year old!

So to answer myself - yes they ducked the Marois because there was a lack of confidence behind the scenes!

Stone bruise for him? Yeah right!

Field OF lame after the Sussex yeaaaaaah right!

Gotcha!
