By:
How true the RP was but just not how they meant “ GAELIC DES CHASTYS (nap) was a close second in this last year, he's had a sharpener over hurdles and his rider's 5lb claim could be key”

By:

That is fcked up i thought I was seeing things when he was practically pulling up the horse i thought initially he went wrong or something and then not a word of truth from them as if nobody else saw it so pretend it didn't happen and move on lads
By:
They all saw it, on course, studio etc, and all skirted around the edges.

lease a roan eel is a waste of space
i thought hed mistyaken the winning line but then i couldnt see what hed mistake it for tis a terrible angle at roscommon so i then thought id misjudged it but no aside from that, surely in the 19th century we should have a better identification of where the line is. crazy |

The Raceday Stewards interviewed P.M. O'Brien, rider of Gaelic Des Chastys (FR), trained by E. McNamara, concerning where he appeared to ease his mount prematurely costing him first place. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he felt his horse was not running on for the use of his whip. He stated that he continued riding with hands and heels and does not feel he eased down prematurely. Having viewed the recording and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that P.M. O'Brien was in breach of R.212A(iv)(a) in that he stopped riding costing him a better place and in considering his clean record in this regard they suspended him for fourteen racedays and ordered him to forfeit his riding fee.

Well deserved ban.

How can the commentators not mention it? Utterly bizarre. Not to mention the “improved form” of the winner
By:
Sorry no stewards up when I checked irishracing.com, this game is nuts at times and can be needlessly expensive
By:
Unforgivable for the on course comms not to mention it,the ease was glaringly obvious, hard lesson for the young lad but woeful from O'Ryan and co.
By:
100 % agree punchestown I just watched replay as I wasn't listening to the commentary at the time or the mins after it was if nobody saw it for what it was which in my opinion a genuine mistake from a young man learning his trade even though he has rode 11 winners from almost 100 rides hi is only starting out in a tough game no doubt he won't ever make a similar mistake again at least hopefully

mitolo, another great winning line there for you at Wexford

I can still remember Willie Carson had an assured victory snatched away from him for not riding out to the line; I cannot remember what the punishment was. However, this is still happening, why? 14 days is wholly insufficient, and the culprit is a claimer.
I'd have given him a suspension of between 3 months and 6 months. I think this period will ensure he's sufficient time to reflect and remember never to repeat the same arrogant behaviour ever again. Otherwise, a 2nd repeat offence will incur a 12 month suspension. I'd like the above penalty for not riding out a horse with such a commanding lead to the line adopted by the horseracing regulator in the near future. A major deterrent is an absolute must otherwise another recurrence is guaranteed given time. |

Just watched a replay. It is absolutely blatant and he should have got more than 2 weeks. The RUK comms just ignored it. Terrible all round!!!
