A pointless race and a waste of time. I think IHRB should have this race run in the backyard of Ballydoyle to save on travelling expenses and time.

It's high time this race is downgraded in my opinion.

Are Juddmonte happy to be associated with this tainted classic?  It's dropping down to the level of Irish St Leger

The shortie had a pacemaker and a good position yet did not win like a 2/11 shot. I'm not denigrating the winner just the "professional" journos at the Racing Post eulogising her ability post winning at Epsom.

Moore just nudged her home.  You were probably more stressed watching it than the horse was winning it.

AOB and Coolmore win many big races year in, year out. However, I find it a difficult task remembering the names of the winners even those that won the Derby and Oaks. I can still remember Golden Horn and Enable, but none from AOB and Coolmore though.

So do I.  I do however remember how brilliant they are at a). Getting the horses, b). Rearing them and c). Training them to perfection to win the big events, time after time after time.  And every owner and trainer has the same chances as they do.
They’re just nothing like as good at it.
Report impossible123 July 19, 2025 4:54 PM BST
I'd agree if it was on most daily stuff eg birthdays; shopping; month or day; etc. But, I'm having more time for horseracing yet the names of their Classic winners escaped me post the events. Maybe I might remember Lambourn as it's the name of a horseracing town.

I can still remember Kyprios and Order Of St George but I cannot remember their Classic winners eg Turpentine and Wing and A Prayer.

An alternative race view of today’s G1 in Ireland

Minnie Hauk (3 years old) will have had to work until the end, but she imposed herself as a class filly doing the minimum... Frankel’s daughter brought a new classic success to her entourage, winning by a good length the Irish Oaks (Gr. I) in front of Wemightakedlongway, a few weeks after her triumph in the English equivalent (Epsom Oaks), silver-crushed at the score of 2 for 11, under the grip of Ryan Moore. Certainly, the overall quality of the prize was not that of a group I (rather than a group III), but the style of the winner’s victory pleased the bookmakers who did not change her odds in view of the Yorkshire Oaks (at 2/1) and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (at 10/1). Minnie Hauk imitates Alexandrova (2006) and Snowfall (2021), also coached by Aidan O'Brien and who had achieved the Epsom Oaks/Irish Oaks double in their time. Finally, the name 'O'Brien' is in the first five places, with Joseph, son of Aidan, who sold the second...

429th group for Aidan O'Brien

This number gives a dizziness and it is even difficult to realize the extent of the exploits of Aidan O'Brien, the most successful director in the history of racing... He has indeed removed the 429th group I of his career (since 1993) in only about thirty years. Ballydoyle’s virtuoso is well on his way to an exceptional year 2025, already counting 11 victories at the highest level, with Henri Matisse (Poule d'Essai des Poulains), Los Angeles (Tattersalls Gold Cup), Lake Victoria (Irish 1000 Guineas), Camille Pissarro (Prix du Jockey-Club), Jan Brueghel (Coronation Cup), the aforementioned Minnie Hauk (2), Lambourn (Epsom and Irish Derby), Whirl (Pretty Polly Stakes), and Delacroix (Eclipse Stakes).

But there’s Group 1’s and then there’s Group 1’s in only but name. Still remarkable.

A monopoly is never good for anything esp in sport. Coolmore can do this because their firepower is almost entirely home-bred/produced, and void of fees like those paid by AMO Racing except (business) expenses which are tax deductible. Others do not have this advantage and privilege; Juddmonte, Aga Khan, Hamdan and Godolphin are catching up, and have produced memorable Classic winners more regularly these days.

Like I said many times before almost all of their present/recent Classic winners are forgotten very soon after the events. And, betting on them is challenging and unrewarding mostly.

It's a numbers game. The more darts you throw at the board the more likely you'll hit a target. Horseracing is no different.

Which of these two horses will contest the Yorkshire Oaks? Whirl or Minnie Hauk? The latter was far from impressive beating non-Gp 1 materials.

I back their charges because I cannot not back them, if on merit. But, I'd not back them daily or weekly; repeatedly 2nd guessing is the quickest way to the poor house; I'd not had a bet for over a week unless it was free.

But, it does not fill me with great joy like in the old days of backing a winner of theirs; the buzz is never the same with AOB's. Also, I'd have forgotten them soon post the event. However, to be frustrated  by a last minute substitution (not an injury) will annoy me enormously as it's a form of cheating and treating their supporters of utter disdain.

It's a boring game punting if nearly every egg is in one basket eg Man City playing a non-league team repeatedly.
