yeah most on the world club championship thread on the footy forum thought it was a forgone conclusion for PSG but at the prices the value looked to be with the Londoners .

You’re dad was right Horatio, sorry your double don’t come off.

I haven’t watched the games after seeing the start of one of the first. Couldn’t stand how drawn out it all was for the players just to get onto the pitch. Hope that format is not used in the World Cup.

Still it sticks one up the Qatar money men who think they can buy everything including success, that not much condolence though.

Everyone where I live is a Chelsea fan, far away from London most never been to a match! I wonder if many have even been into the Capital!

What’s the old saying about dint get on anything that can walk or talk?

Foyles they were heavy favs on paper.

Even the blues fans I know weren’t expecting to win. One said we’ll give them a bit more of a match that Real but I don’t expect much.

I agree with your comments about not being taken in by the hype and the talkers who just copy each other blindly.

Yes you’re pocket talking, Horatio. It’s pretty tough to get a group of millionaire footballers to throw a game just to fook your double up!

Reading this thread I thought PSG would have been a lot shorter than 7/10. Plenty of these prices go down every weekend and they’ve usually got a home draw advantage.

You keep on going against the grain, Foyles.

PSG obliterated ev team..most top teams..chelsea had the way easier route..entitled to be a short price..where do you come to a conclusion chelsea were value?

I thought Chelsea had a slightly better chance than the odds.  Thought for some time PSG were great going forward but were a bit open at the back.  Villa scored a few against them and beat them at home. And are Villa as good as Chelsea especially now with Pedro who scored 2 fantastic goals in his first match for the blues.

Yes plenty of teams weren't scoring against them. With hindsight it wasn't the strongest champions league last season.  They mainly played English clubs and as one Pool fan of 50 years said " worst reds side to win title "

@s.kenbo.....That was not what I implied at all Laugh

I implied that the PSG players just didn't turn up. Far better football judges then me believe they thought it was going to be a cake walk and it clearly wasn't.

I still believe they are the far better team but just didn't put a shift in.

No complaints at all re the result. I was possibly a little bitter last night, especially after reading nearly every pundit view and most fudges saying they "should" have too much for Chelsea. Just watch the first half against Real Madrid. They were amazing.

However, it is sport and these things happen. My £450 worth of bets is down the swanny...so be it

Still probably the best team I agree. Chelsea are much improved though.  Once you have got a top finisher for Palmer to find instead of the clown they had at centre forward it makes a helleva difference.

Horatio. Wink

It’s a tournament I didn’t watch one minute of. I think I’d have given it a go if BBC1 or ITV1 had decided to get behind it.

Looking at the pay table, it sounds like the team at the bottom of the pile (Auckland) were the biggest winners. They won £3.3m which is around six times their annual turnover. Not bad for a part-time team.

Lovely to hear the money feeding down the pay scale isn't it. as you mention Auckland. It's starting to become a little boring that the rich clubs get richer whilst some can hardly cover costs.

Being an EFL2 club supporter I would love to see more money filter down rather than the big clubs just earning more.

That is however the current game I suppose.

Be lucky SK Wink

It’s been ridiculous at the top for a very long time now. Even in the nineties Shearer going for £15m seemed ludicrous. Macmanaman going to Real and earning £65k a week seemed astronomical.

It’s the elite versus everyone else. A few are trying to stay there, a few are trying to get there. For the other 65 teams it’s business as usual.

There probably gonna be some PL players earning more in a week than some PL players earn a year! Still a big gulf at the highest level really.
By:

When: 14 Jul 25 20:38
Totally agree.  The gulf is just too wide...and unfair.

Hasn't Andy Carroll just one to Dagenham And Redbridge unless I am mistaken?
