nice big field looks very open and I like a few at decent prices schiergan ,wohler ,grewe have trained the winner of this 6 times between them in the last 10 years and 5 of the last ten winners ran in the union rennen a derby trial . I like the chances of 2 who fit these trends and are big prices amico  trained by henryk grewe ran a decent race not btn far behind zuckerhut trip should be fine and 50/1 could be worth a crack ew ,also like the yards other one enzian who was further behind in that trial but went off at 3/1 that day lightly raced trip should be fine and around 33/1  looks fair . smallish ew bets .good luck opinions encouraged.
selections amico 50/1 ew & enzian 33/1 .

Big story with a female jockey winning.

No excuse for favourite, didn't pick up and previous form reversed.

Well Lambourn sort of franked again!

I kick myself as I’d not looked but had red an article about a female jockey having her chance in this, that’s right was won by a lady rider right?

I read the same article, Chris Cook in the RP

Among the 18 declared runners and riders, one name jumped out at the Front Runner, that of amateur rider Nina Baltromei, who will contest the Classic for the first time aboard Hochkonig for owners Stall Cloverleaf and trainer Yasmin Almenrader.

If the name Baltromei rings a bell it will be courtesy of Nina's father, Werner, who trained Longchamp Group 1 winners Le Miracle (2007 Prix du Cadran) and Lady Marian (2008 Prix de l’Opera).

Tragically Werner Baltromei succumbed to cancer at the age of just 49 in 2012, since when Almenrader has trained from his base in Mulheim, just a couple of barns along from where Marcel Weiss sent out Torquator Tasso to conquer Europe.

Now Nina Baltromei, champion amateur in Germany in 2024 and already a winner at Listed level, will ride the stable’s Derby challenger Hochkonig, a 10-1 chance with local operator Race Bets.

“It’s absolutely awesome,” says Baltromei. “I don’t think I fully realise yet and I have no words to describe my feelings. They gave me this big chance and I’m really thankful.

“I’m not really nervous, I don’t know why. I know he has a good chance of winning and we just need a little bit of luck in this big field. I hope we have a nice, quiet race and that he can show that he’s a really good horse.”

Baltromei adds: “It’s also a little bit more emotional because this stable is like home. I was born here, I learned to ride here and it’s a nice story.”
