IMO he is the best 3yo over a mile and a half judging by his Eclipse win.
How can he have been beaten so far in the Derby.
I cant remember a Gp1 3yr old middle distance winner being beaten by so many ordinary rated horses. COT and AR same.

Aidan disagrees with you about Delacroix being a mile and a half horse judging by his entries in the Sussex Stakes (a mile), the Irish Champion Stakes and International Stakes (both 10 furlongs). Admittedly he has an Arc entry but that would have been made some time back.

Nonetheless, the Derby did seem too bad to be true: the ground might have been too soft, and he was hampered early on, but again lack of stamina may have been the largest factor.

Even in yesterday's Eclipse, Delacroix was ridden like a non-stayer.

What margins for the results.

“Ryan's (Moore, his jockey) plan was to animate, since he always thought it was a miler…”

All the talk about being hampered costing his chance at Epsom is nonsense.

Was never like the Lion was thought of as a Derby horse or Dela. Normally they’d go onto the Irish Derby for compensation if they truly thought he was a mile and half horse?

Or run in the GPDP, or have a King George entry.
Report Delashay July 6, 2025 10:07 AM BST
Agree it’s strange to say he’s all speed (for breeding no doubt) when Gosden felt that stamina had won out.

If he goes a mile and half might be in America. Like Magician got away with.
Report Cider July 6, 2025 10:14 AM BST
He initially tried to lead and backed out of it. Niggled along a fair way out, but that's not wholly unusual for Moore. Obviously you take what this firm says with a pinch of salt as they are salesmen. Didn't look like he was crying out for a drop in trip to me, 10f looks ideal, with a prospect of staying further.
Report 1st time poster July 6, 2025 10:15 AM BST
what else could AOB have run the eclipse ?

he,s got 8 in KG betting  excluding DELA and none of them look an eclipse horse, so he,s got plenty of 12f horses ,so no reason to run DELA at 12f again, doesnt mean he wouldnt stay 12F, if he hadnt got up on line  yesterday p.enty now spouting he,s a miler would be saying he needed further, 10F on stiffest course in country getting up on line, doesnt scream miler to anybody else and like JG said he thinks he was outstayed
Report Delashay July 6, 2025 10:24 AM BST
Don’t shoot the messenger as you’ve added what I added re: Gosden’s comments.

He ran another in the Eclipse who’d won the PDJC with form franked by Trinty College who has turned down the invite to run in the German Derby for the GPDP next weekend.

I’ve not said run him over a mile either just noted that his entries don’t match up with a Fav for the Derby.
Report Delashay July 6, 2025 10:28 AM BST
I’m of the opinion and have been since before the Derby that they’ve shafted punters with two horses that were never seen as true Derby prospects.

Seems a few are either slow to cottoning onto to that or are happy to look past it.

I think it’s pretty shabby from that outfit to play such Jedi mind tricks with punters and their wedge.

Quotes from O’Brien from the AP thread

More words,

He's a son of Dubawi and he doesn't like Epsom. Today, the race was won on his speed. It wasn't until 100 metres from the post that I thought I was going to win." Those from Ryan himself.

I’m just sharing, they aren’t my thoughts.

A horse being spoken as a miler who may win at York and then the Arc or in the states.
What a perfect scenario for stud.
Me thinks the usual marketing ploy from OB.

Agree lots a strange talk that doesn’t match up. It’s like listening to Anthony Jodrell ringside when his adrenaline outruns his brain! Laugh
Report impossible123 July 6, 2025 12:44 PM BST
The path taken was not by design. A predicament resulted from his pilot being out-thought and out-ridden by Buick, Soumillon and Mr Murphy; Moore was put into a pocket. Delacroix would have been an unlucky loser had the line come too soon. The Sandown hill came to his rescue.
Report FELTFAIR July 6, 2025 1:02 PM BST
Nonsense.
Report sageform July 6, 2025 1:04 PM BST
You have to marvel at the way that they can win Group 1 races with so many different horses each year. It makes you wonder if they had a plan back in March. Lambourn Derby/Irish Derby, Camille Pisarro French Derby, Jan Bruegel Coronation cup, Delacroix Eclipse. Who is aimed for the King George? Delacroix surely lined up for York if he is OK.

“Who is aimed for the King George?”

Impossible’s  Fav - Jan B, but who knows if he’ll be their only runner?

Lambourn will have had 27 days between races.
Whirl 28 days.
Report impossible123 July 6, 2025 1:26 PM BST
They tried to make The Lion In Winter and Delacroix a 12f horse. They also chose Epsom which is a double whammy, I think. And, no Royal Ascot winner this year either. Let's hope Delacroix and his Eclipse adversaries FoG will cross swords with FoG in the International at York next month.
Report impossible123 July 6, 2025 1:30 PM BST
I'll predict Lambourn will not run in the King George & QE2. Neither will he run in The ARC. His next assignment would probably be The Leger. Then the breeding shed.

As Cider says above salesmen.  Ramruma  "Aidan disagrees with you about Delacroix being a mile and a half horse judging by his entries "    Seeing the dam was a 1m6f performer Aidan might think he stays longer than the mother-in-law but is never going to say it or run if they can win over shorter.

Jesus Ramruna, hé wasn’t ridden like a non stayer,
He didn’t jump quick enough to lead, thé plan was to lead
Then quicken It up incrementally, it’s hard to pass horses
That are quickening, think Gosden said similar?

Hé led or was in first 2 in his lep runs, forcing it, they then upped
Him in trip for Derby, got no sort of run

I wonder have they stumbled on the way to him now.
Be interesting to see how they ride home at York
If he goes there. He’s a Dubawi too, so now he’s won an
Eclipse, cant see him going up in tripl. Another mile 1/4 group
1, orf to stud ???

If Delacroix had a serious turn of foot Lambourne could win over 8f too. At Royal Ascot the absentee Albert Einstein was lauded to be better than Gstaad the easy winner. He's related to War Front. Did a few of his not train on the following season, if memory served?

I'm surprised he's so short against Ombudsman and Calandagan. He was several lengths behind Ombudsman, and is 3lbs worse off too; Ombudsman has the beating of Calandagan on a line with Anmaat.
