Ombudsman looks like the best horse in the line up and would be a bet, but the worry for me is the quick turn around from Ascot. Yes a colt and a 3yo, so he might take it in his stride, but these are not 5F horses and running at this level over this sort of trip most likely takes a bit more getting over.
Just half the previous winners have run at Ascot in their previous race and been successful off a 2 week turnaround. When you delve a little deeper, only 3 3yos have managed to win the Eclipse off the back of an Ascot run in the last 20 years !!
They are namely , Paddington, Hawkbill and So You Think, so quite an illustrious roll call.
He should win on form, but its flip of a coin stuff, and a total guess as to whether he will come out and trounce them or find the exertions of a mammoth run 2 weeks take a bit more getting over.
Be great to watch with the line up as it is , but would you back a toin coss at evs ? No way !
Surely the way forward would be to find some value about something else.
Soumillon's ridden Camille Pissarro twice before, including winning a G1, so could be why he gets the ride again, rather than him being the second string behind Delacroix
Ombudsman is a 4yoI think Moore's on the wrong AOB horseSoumillon's ridden Camille Pissarro twice before, including winning a G1, so could be why he gets the ride again, rather than him being the second string behind Delacroix
I would be laying Ombudsman and backing Delacroix, who has been supported in the market,I think the Derby wasn’t the right distance for the horse and we should see a vast improvement.

Only betting interest is just throwing a tenner at the Super Boost. My inclination would be that the 3yo's are a pretty average bunch. So throw them out and if Ombudsman reproduces his previous run I think he is most likely winner. Biggest concern is that best came off a suicidal pace. I don't see any pace in this race, and it could turn into an absolute farce. I think Buick should seriously be thinking of making all.

“I think the Derby wasn’t the right distance for the horse and we should see a vast improvement.” Congrats TF
He certainly has put on condition to my eye(not that ITV really showed him) and 10lbs was a lot to give to such a big colt.

And as said he was never fancied for Epsom so that just backs it up more. That Willie thought he was.
Unfortunately I was coltish in the paddock with ITV!

counts for nowt unless you no if carson thought it looked like carrying a bit today in paddock, AOB trained fav in derby after 2 trial wins or willies eyes after a nice lunch on the gravey boat , toughie

Yes delashay, I thought the same, he did look big .
Tanglefoot, I dont know about 'lucky' but at one point when ombudsman had set sail for home with about 1 furlong to go, delacroix was stone last and had to drop out the back because he was in a bit of a pocket with camille pissaro and ruling court and looked like an impossible task as he almost fell out the back of the television. Then pulled wide and I thought he had no chance of catching the leader by then. Not sure whether ombudsman was a few lbs under par and showing the effects of his ascot run , but delacroix certainly delivered. A great gr 1 to watch.

Do you really expect to be taken seriously oneten? This must rank as one of your worst attempts to convince the Forum that you are knowledgeable about the sport. Trying to make it look as if you have spent some time studying the race and research?
Everything you say revolving around 3 year olds with Ombudsman at the centre, I doubt even moneytree has ever put up such an ill thought out thread, 12th April 21 being significant?
Most would have acknowledged a monumentally poor attempt at having a clue but not you, why is that IYO?
