Carlisle is holding one of the extraordinary meetings for Professional and Amateur Lady Rider races on Saturday. This is where the likes of female amateurs such as Brodie Hampson, and Serena Brotherton take on professional jockeys such as Gina Mangan, Josephine Gordon and Nicola Currie.

The races are unusual in many ways. Not only are they for female riders only, but due to the fact that amateurs tend to be heavier than professionals the weight range in the races are higher. e.g. In the 7:42 race 10 of the 12 jockeys carry 10st or more. This means there is a lot of saddle cloth required for the lighter professionals, and that's dead weight, which some of the professionals may not be used to.

If you want to analyse these races (and I thoroughly recommend you do because the masses just don't understand these races, and do not have the tools that we have!) then here are some resources:

System Builder Dataset
It is easy to set up the system builder to analyse past races for Professional and Amateur Lady Rider races. You just need to search for races that contain 'Pro-Am' and are for Lady riders only. There is a pre-made dataset for these races here:

Stats For Pro-Am Lady Rider Races

Run that dataset and observe any stand out stats such as:

* The position in the betting - the fav / longshot bias is strong in these races
* The FlatStats ratings - they are not effective in these races due to lack of jockey history
* The position in the weights and / or the weight ranges
* Allowances
* The record of individual jockeys and trainers in such races!

Note the 6:12 is not a Pro-Am race - it is for female professionals only so you just need to filter for Lady only races (not Pro-Am) if you want to analyse that race.

Previous Discussions on Pro-Am Races
We have talked about these races for many years - the first posting is from 2012!

Here are all the main topic postings for Pro-Am races:

For those who don't like these races let me just post this picture of one of the jockeys ... again

If looking at her vital statistics is not good enough, and you prefer her numerical figures instead then try this:

Miss B Hampson Turf Jockey Stats
32 wins, 177 runs, 18.1% strike rate, 1.17 A/E, 36.8% profit, 27.3 Exp, 0.9 Archie

Hampson has some amazing stats. She really is one of the best jockeys around. But there is just one thing. Delve into her stats and note her record in Amateur and her record in Lady rider races. You will see she is way better when riding amongst her own (Amateur races). She really dominates those races and yet has red stats in Lady rider races. But there is one more thing to note: she has only ever ridden 6 times in Pro-Am races. She has 2 rides on Saturday. I think they either both win or they both lose  _icp1

"and yet has red stats in Lady rider races".

The last time she rode in a 'Lady Rider' race was over five years ago, on 11 March 2020, so those stats are useless now.

Since then her record in Amateur races is...

Probably best to leave the meeting alone from a betting point of view.
