He went for a run between Tourist and Smart Vision about 1.5 out and didn't get it, and that was game over for him.

Yes probably everything that could have went wrong did. It looks like Saturday was the day for them. Do you think it still retains the ability to win another race? The money would suggest yes.

I might be wrong but was the owner not Barton Bank on here?

It did appear that he had plenty left in the tank when he went for the gap.

Nothing something I'm adamant about, but not sure he was on the best part of the track either, they had the stalls on the stands-side, however it did seem the straight course races were developing more down the centre.

to be fair the commentator did his best for him,never ever looked like getting in to even contention but comms kept giving him a big shout out,moving up,finishing fast,blah de blah

off his mark they probably thought he was in with a big chance ( of at least a place )  At the earlier odds you can have a decent bet but with hindsight he got rather short. Some drop in the handicap and retain most of their ability. Some don't.

I rarely post on here these days. But given people are interested the horse was fancied to run well having dropped a long way in the handicap and is probably better on the grass than the all-weather nowadays, but has the same handicap mark. But the main reason the price crashed to the degree it did is because the markets are so flimsy and the liquidity is so poor. A huge proportion of the "money" is just bots churning away. The owner managed to get 500 quid on in dribs and drabs between 12.5 and 9.8 before the price fell through the floor. 10-15 years ago you would have got at least double that whilst barely moving the price at all. I think the horse does retain the ability to win races though at the age of 8 he is unlikely to scale the heights of old and he is something of a tricky ride.

The dealer ,i backed it a 17/2 in the shop as i was out ,bb is spot on   but the race i thought it was going to hose up ,on the snaf looking for a gap never come in time winner flew home but loads left in tank for me ,,maybe HQ in 4 weeks hector will report that to the boss

In the perfect position but then panicked and left the rail, put a half-decent jockey on it and it wins, stop putting clowns on it

was just thinking the same myself Benji, If it were mine I would try it with a different jockey, not saying he done anything wrong there, just something different that might spark a change.

The horse boils over / pulls hard / sweats up. Very awkward horse to ride I should imagine. I still recall when he landed the gamble pretty much pulled all the way to the finishing line! Probably the warmish weather is a negative.

That's the whole point isn't it, needs the big field/fast pace to try and negate the pulling. Didn't seem particularly unlucky today

But as I alluded to, may well have wasted a lot of energy before the race.

Similar MO as my nap Today in the same race ( Rock Opera ), Going for a run up the rails and getting a clear passage in a field that size is perilous to say the least.

GC that was my bet too, got cut off but didn't finish off that well when clear, bit disappointing run tbh.

he finally won a race....well, his race standside.

I thought it was a good effort considering how the race panned out.
