Surely the worst has to be Windsor ? I went last Monday, club was £32 , but the prices once inside were nothing short of scandalous.. I took my two children and as it was hot wanted an ice cream. A single cone Mr whippy , nothing fancy for the three of us £13.50. As it was so hot a couple of hours later they deserved another one , so I forked out £27 on 6 ice creams. Felt like I'd been robbed.
The pimms bar was selling half a pint of Pimms for...... wait for it .... £8.20 !! Sorry but that's mainly ice with lemonade and a tiny shot of wine .
I saw a table and chairs in a ehat looked like a pub garden so walked up to the table and some snotty old cockney was most rude that it was a reserved area... bearing in mind I'm smartly turned out . But it turns out after you've paid for club - supposedly the top area , you can upgrade to go to 10mts x 10mts pub lawn ?? So Just another way of trying to sting you some more.
Worst viewing of any course in the country and even my young children didn't rate it , with one of them summing it up - it's not very good here, but it's better than not going racing.
Well I'm not so sure. Go again ? Not if I can help it. Because it's always so awful there i never go and then every 10 years or so I think it might have improved, so i give it another go.
Arc must be another main reason why racing is going down the pan because there was nothing good value about a night at Windsor racecourse. I'd rather find something else to do, than get shafted by Arc again.
Be interesting to hear other tales from other courses to beat Windsor for a rip off ?
Haha laying, i thought so too and wouldnt normally, but it was very very hot.
As my kids are very slim and run around a lot I figured they would burn it off soon enough so i didnt worry about it. Better to have 2 happy children enjoying a school evening at the races, better than moaning it's too hot..

Doncaster,Southwell and Sedgefield are not noticeably fleecers compared to other tracks in the region. Facilities aren't great at Uttoxeter but again it's not noticeably pricey. Only been to Worcester of the Arc courses down southish and that was a few years or so so can't comment. Maybe it is dearer down south generally. Somebody started a thread about Salisbury being a rip-off a month or so ago and that's an independent.

Windsor Knot, yes I suppose you have a clear winner there ! Everyone seems to have issues with Chester.
Irons , Haha I shouldn't be surprised where those two are involved. As tight as ticks.

The opposite of a rip off was Haydock Park about 30 years ago. I was returning my son to Leeds Univ (yes I know it was a big detour) from Gloucestershire but I decided to go via Haydock. I was wearing a jacket, cord trousers and tie but my son was in a smart pair of chinos and a shirt. The jobsworth on the gate decided "we" were not suitably dressed to go into members so we were sent to Tatts. The first people we saw was one of my friends and his son. The son happened to wear shoulder length hair but was smartly dressed. Both myself and my friend had business connections and both owned 25% of Faustino, a horse with Philip Hobbs. They had also been refused entry to members due to the long hair. My son just laughed and in the family tradition said " they have just done themselves out of £40", the difference between members and tatts times 4. We had a thoroughly good afternoon and won a nice few quid on Agistment in the bumper. The horse had won a bumper 9 months earlier but had a training problem so this was just its second ever race. Presumably due to a penalty being carried it started at 11/1 and won 2 lengths. I spoke to Jimmy Fitgerald (who trained it) a few years later and he said it was one of the best he ever had but very fragile. It was 6th behind Wither or Witch in the Cheltenham bumper and won 6 races from 8 starts.

Wimbledon is pricier , it is however a world class event, which Windsor most definitely is not..
Tennis fans visiting Wimbledon this year will need to dig deeper into their pockets as prices for food and beverages at the prestigious tournament have risen across the board.
A pint of Stella Artois now costs £8.85, whilst Guinness is priced at £8.45.
The traditional glass of Pimm's, a Wimbledon favourite, will set spectators back £12.25 and a bottle of water is £5.
Those Reuben bros must be involved

Agree about Windsor, went 4/5 years ago with club tickets for a Monday evening. Facilities were very poor and it was a very grubby place, again no access to seating anywhere near the winning post unless you paid a extra for the reserved area. Nothing Royal about it at all.
The trip was a treat for our wives, so we stayed at four star hotel on the river and chartered a boat to take us to the course and back. All of that and the fact we backed 5 winners on the evening which paid for the whole trip and some, made it a very enjoyable day out, but the course itself is a shocker.

oneten I did look on the RP site to check the spelling of Agistment and its form. It was owned by the Marquesa de Moratella who had some very good horses back then. I never forget the names of horses I have owned shares in, especially if they won a few times I lost a horse at Windsor and never went back. It was brought down in a novice chase and both loose horses galloped from the course, through the paddock and on to a main road. Mine slipped up and broke its neck. The gates should always be closed during a race but they were not.
