I don't mind Matt, but I just thought he was verging on being rude, just my interpretation,  all the best Stew.
Btw the best thing about the Gers new manager is his partner.Love
Report sageform June 19, 2025 3:35 PM BST
I am surprised that the trainers put up with the sort of comments from Matt Chapman. McCririck was rude but this is off the scale.
Report uptheirons June 19, 2025 3:37 PM BST
AOB is a diplomat for sure.
What business is it of Chapman to be told the pecking order
Report Hayden June 19, 2025 3:38 PM BST
Agree sage , breeding levels sometimes become apparent in humans as well as thoroughbreds.
Report mrcombustible June 19, 2025 3:59 PM BST
What did Chapman say?
Report uptheirons June 19, 2025 4:03 PM BST
"Who is the best of your 2YO's and in what order"
Report mrcombustible June 19, 2025 4:08 PM BST
Thanks
Report Hayden June 19, 2025 4:09 PM BST
....or to elaborate slightly

"Who is the best of your 2YO's and in what order"
"Who is the best of your 2YO's and in what order"
"Who is the best of your 2YO's and in what order"
"Who is the best of your 2YO's and in what order"
"Who is the best of your 2YO's and in what order"
"If i tell you what i think the order is can you tell if if that's silly "

A pathetic & amateurish interviewing technique even by his appalling standards.
Report GLASGOWCALLING June 19, 2025 4:11 PM BST
... He seemed way too pushy and shouty Hayden, probably the Meds kicking in.
Report uptheirons June 19, 2025 4:12 PM BST
Like McFatso before him,he believes any publicity is good for him.
He also loves the abuse he gets on here for the same reason
Report Delashay June 19, 2025 4:14 PM BST
Hayden the question is in relation as you know to their own remarks. About the Albert being their best by faaaaaar!
He wants it out there on record not rumour.
Not a nice way of asking but talk is talk and if you put out those rumours, people will ask.
Report Hayden June 19, 2025 4:15 PM BST
Could have been tipsy on champagne i suppose and inadvertently swallowed some fake tan.
Report Delashay June 19, 2025 4:17 PM BST
Or peed off with his demotion! Laugh
Report Hayden June 19, 2025 4:19 PM BST
If he's have asked the question ( once or max twice preferably ) in a week or so when all had been digested i'd have condoned that tbh but that earlier technique so quick after the CD win was embarrassing in my view.

If the microphone was made of chocolate Aidan could have eaten if , was that close.
Report ALIEN SEX FIEND June 19, 2025 4:38 PM BST
Matt had every right to ask, AOB entitled to not answer. I dont mind Matt, however very close to the line there.
Report MJK June 19, 2025 4:42 PM BST
There's no point in Chapman asking as in his head he thinks what he thinks and if O'Brien offers a different order, in Chapman's world, O'Brien is wrong and he's right.
Report Try My Best June 19, 2025 4:43 PM BST
Not too much to ask what the trainer feels is his pecking order. At the end of the day he got an answer. Proper questions and what we all want to know. Well done Chappers.
Report Hayden June 19, 2025 4:44 PM BST
Of course every right to ask and it does seem to be a stock question on their sheet of paper these days above everything else.

He didn't just ask though , he asked asked asked asked and asked.
Report uptheirons June 19, 2025 4:45 PM BST
Correct,Hayden.
Pig ignorance from Chapman
Report elisjohn June 19, 2025 6:13 PM BST
no manners at all,  horrible person on tv anyway , if hes trying to be a mcririck type hes not on the same league
Report StewB June 19, 2025 6:25 PM BST
I've always thought that he is trying to be John McCririck
Report mokegibboni June 19, 2025 8:32 PM BST
Chapman thinks he's a replacement for McCririck, but do we need a replacement for McCririck?
Report Try My Best June 19, 2025 8:48 PM BST
He asked and asked because he wasn't getting an answer. Then eventually he got one. The person not answering the question is the one being evasive and somewhat rude which is not how I normally view Aiden as he comes across as a very polite gentleman. Was Paxman rude for asking Michael Howard a question numerous times for which he was not getting a straight answer. At the end of the day what harm is there in saying I think xyz is my best 2 year old at this stage.
Report elisjohn June 19, 2025 9:00 PM BST
not a fan of coolmore at all, but aiden has declared he thinks einstein is different class, so who cares whose 2nd or 3rd, probably theyve got better ones not seen yet, , chapman was a prat all day with obrien, tabor , who actually told him( i havent a clue what youre talking about ),
Report the bairn June 19, 2025 9:34 PM BST
did Ryan no tell him in the nicest possible way, to f-ck off. cheers.
Report unitedbiscuits June 19, 2025 9:37 PM BST
Aiden O’Brien suffered Matt Chapman because he is a Christian. But Chapman was only there in the enclosure because he messed up with Ryan Moore yesterday.
Report Hayden June 19, 2025 10:13 PM BST
To a large degree a personal opinion of jockey demeanour will mirror your own.

Plenty dislike the demeanour of Ryan Moore , some don't.

Plenty dislike the demeanour of Frankie Dettori ( particularly since he retired ) , some don't.

As characters they are as chalk and cheese as possible yet an opinion on both can be a mile apart , all that proves is that you can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time.

Demeanour isn't an exact science it's your outward behaviour but thank god we're all different , i just respect Ryan for how good he is at his job and ok it may be cooler if was an outgoing interviewee ( to a degree ) but he isn't , in my view much of the blame for these controversial interviews lands on these one-dimensional media guys who must be reading questions from the same hymn sheet that they put together when they took the job on , think if i was a jockey my personality would mean i'd be as frustrated as Ryan often looks.

Good luck for day 4 guys   Happy

Sorry forgot to mention Chapman is a ****     Grin

Yes bairn, I think he did.
On the Matt/Aiden front now good would it be if at the start of their next interview Chappers said "Aiden we're strapped for time here, could you save the thank you very, very much Mr Eastwood's for the Lesters dinner".
Report sageform June 20, 2025 11:37 AM BST
Put yourself in Ryan Moore's position. He has the best job in racing and works for some extremely wealthy people who are very secretive about their horses. If he said anything to Matt or any other journo which could possibly influence the market price of a horse he would get a lecture and next time possibly the sack. Aiden says more but conveys even less useful info.
Report LoyalHoncho June 20, 2025 12:45 PM BST
Whatever he chooses to say he can be civil.
Personally I would dispense with all of these immediate post race interviews but the great Ed decides that the average viewer wants to see them when we all know that isn't the case.
Report mokegibboni June 20, 2025 2:01 PM BST
@LoyalHoncho - 100% agree. As Ryan has said many times - 'let the horse do the talking'. I for one would certainly be very happy with them abandoning any post race (or pre-race for that matter) trite comments from connections. I mean how many times have we seen people in the parade ring running away when they see Chapman approaching with his cameraman?
Report Hayden June 20, 2025 2:34 PM BST
As Haggis confessed in the tv interview yesterday to Chapman , some things are no business of anyone but connections when chatting about the potential withdrawal of Merchant and the scare no member of the public was made aware of.

There are no other trainers on the planet with as much depth of quality as Aidan & Willie so mind changing racing targets is a problem no other trainer has or ever has had to anywhere near the same degree , the others have it fairly easy as they just slot into place with Charlie the only other possible exception.
