Where do Timeform get their IR numbers from

Think they only consider bets over £100 for IR purposes, don't know where they get the data from but presumably betfair provide it.

Do they go by a certain amount on a price?

If you click on the lo price it says " Betfair prices of over £100 win purpose "

I'm pretty sure they are just plain getting some wrong - but the prevalence of penny bets is probably also having a fairly misleading/deceptive impact.

There was a horse the other day matched at a high of 520 (for one pence) and also matched at many intervals between 50-500 for pennies as well. The highest price matched for £1+ was just 42. I'd guess (I didn't check) that Timeform will probably have recorded it matched at a high of about 34 (assuming £3+ was matched at that price). That's fair enough (by their criteria) but it shows how thin the markets are now and how deceptive the graph is unless you check the volumes!

In terms of just plain getting it wrong, I tried to lay a horse I/R for £32 at 13.5 (having backed it at triple figure prices pre-race), I got about £11 of it matched for about £135 liability); Timeform has recorded the lowest price matched IR as 22. That's simply incorrect according to their own criteria.

10p. matched at 1000 = £100, I don't want to see that in the data.

A load of these where they give the winners low number.  I think we know that. It's the high number we want.

The last time I checked, the numbers were the same as those here:

which only counts those with £100 or more payout.

£100 matched at evens IR, plus £100 matched at each of 1.9, 1,8, 1.7 1.6 etc. but BF/TF only count the even ton.

You could have a grand matched below 2.0, but it gets ignored cos individually it's sub-£100 liabilities.

thanks betting help  but like Ron O  there's plenty that don't fit their rules imo and are just mistakes. You have to remember the amounts matched though until the IR numbers are put up 24 hrs later
