Does anyone have any advice about using the Internet Archive?

It's far from straightforward and everything I've tried to find is showing no results.

I found it's straight forward. Queries take a long time though, so you need to be patient.

I don't think it's about patience - there are just no results showing as it was the same
for a couple of old films I searched for.

I know the video I was looking for used to be on YT years ago so I thought this'd be the
place to find it.

Briefly, my mate was in a band and the only real 'evidence' of that was an appearance on
TOTP in 1983 - unbelievably, it was totally expunged from the internet as the episode was
introduced by that **** Savile.

Talk about a sledgehammer to crack a nutSad

As far as I know it can be used to view different versions of a published website. I'd be surprised if it could be used to surface a deleted you tube video.

There are still Jimmy Savile presented TOTP recordings on Youtube. Have you searched through them all? Here's part of one from 21/07 for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yR-ucxPEaxs&ab_channel=marfun2
.

I always thought that was the point of it...to retrieve deleted webpages.
Thanks anyhow budHappy

what were the band?
Report Cider June 13, 2025 7:47 PM BST
It is Herbie but you tube video urls are a string. Unless you know the string, you've go no chance.
Report jamee1 June 13, 2025 7:49 PM BST
And do you know the date? Savile only presented on 4 shows in 1983:
02/06/83
21/07/83
15/09/83
17/11/83

If anyone knows how to track it down it'd be greatly appreciated.

The song was a hit in 1983 called 'So What' by Liverpool Express
and that was my mate John's 15 minutes of fame...only for it to
be obliterated and so now unable to show his grandkidsSad

https://youtu.be/wz0D45MnVDM That is a link to Liverpool Express singing ''You Are My Love'' on TOTP. Perhaps your mate wasn't in the band at that time but I hope he was and this helps Herbie.

is he on drums here?
Report Herbie-53 June 15, 2025 11:32 AM BST
Thanks Elise - I know this sounds unlikely but I watched that and thought he looked very similar
but when I showed it to him, he said that was recorded in Belgium and for some reason he missed
that particular gig - would you believe the guy who stood in for him and made ONE appearance for
the band was his brother!Crazy

Thanks again...as he was very happy to see that 'lost' recording again after many yearsHappy
