They can of course win from a wide draw George, but still few and far between, having said that I got stung by one out of the same stall at Chesters last meeting.
Fair play it was a cracking ride by Egan.

Myal is a grand Horse. He can win listed races on soft IMO

... Entered at Ascot next Thursday, worth a look if the ground comes up Sft imo. Happy
Report Whippin Piccadilly June 13, 2025 3:41 PM BST
Yes I'll definitely take a look if he turns up, GC. He ran didn't run well at Ascot 2 runs back but I'll put that run down to the very quick going rather than any disliking for the course.
Report GEORGE.B June 13, 2025 4:02 PM BST
GC, was the rail out that day, because it does seem to give the wider drawn horses more of a chance, particularly when the ground is soft.

Apparently the rail is at its innermost configuration today and the times are close to standard.

george , it was 8yds out, over 7f it was +37yds
Report The Dragon June 13, 2025 4:08 PM BST
brilliant ride . thanks billy boyCool

Cheers elise. They seem to have the rail dolled out at most meetings nowadays.
Report elise June 13, 2025 4:22 PM BST
if u need to check back, go onto the bha results section of their site, at the top they give track info
Report GLASGOWCALLING June 13, 2025 4:31 PM BST
Thanks Elise, I was only watching on TV, why would the rail be moved 8 yards on Good ground.?  I assumed any rail movements were looking for better ground.
Report elise June 13, 2025 4:34 PM BST
normally they set the rail to allow for them to move for fresh ground when they have a few meetings, allows them to protect a strip
Report GEORGE.B June 13, 2025 4:36 PM BST
A while back, the barstewards podacast produced some stats showing that the lower drawn horses weren't faring as well as they used to over longer trips.

I won't say what they suggested the reason might be, but imo it is to do with the rail being out.

So for example, if they have an extra 37 yards to hang on over 7f having used gas up early to hold an inside position, then it stands to reason that they are more vulnerable to being closed down.
Report elise June 13, 2025 4:39 PM BST
stalls to first bend always critical for posn, i'd watch the races back and see with the rail info, over some trips it would be as much about getting out of the gate, tighter turns will obv favour those who have the rail
