I thought they put a French jock on their Godolphin horses. Not at all keen on Buick, and 12 isn't the greatest draw, but I would have thought 12/1 (with a possible boost) is quite big. Just seems to do enough so likely better than the bare form. Should stay further, and some rain wouldn't be a negative.

Laurent Barbarin has put up the second (Al Aali) to the Godolphin colt that you fancy Cualificar, was given an easy race and the step up is expected to suit. Has been tipped in France to outrun its odds of 66/1 .
Sinileo is said to be the best Whertimer colt (just said on ATR), but Fabre has said in the post that he’s surprised that Goyen has selected him. |

Anyone that fancies Ridari should wait to see him in the paddock, was well worked up and coltish before the Guineas. Looked like an ideal Jockey Club type with the turn of foot shown in his trial run.
Was 8/1 anti post 6/1 still there. |

Godolphin retained jockey. Two English classics in the bag already. Why would you go to a third choice French Jockey?

Buick isn't top dog in France, and on occasion is quite able to look third rate himself. I quite like the idea of forming a partnership with a horse rather than a supposedly top jock parachuting in on the big occasion. As the stats above (thanks) suggest it hasn't been done very often. I don't like him as a punter because I find him very one dimensional in the that most of time the horse seemingly has to carry him into the race on the bridle for him to be interested in winning. I prefer a more pro-active jock, and one that doesn't so readily give up if things are not going well. He is essentially a bridle jock, always has been. All that before you raise questions as to riding out for the best possible place.

A touch unfortunate on a few counts. Drawn one against twelve so had to do a lot of early running. Moore is always going to be stronger than Buick in a finish, but he looks to have forced a gap that wasn't really there to take. On another day he doesn't get that run, and gets beat. As I said Cualificar will stay further, and had they have got more rain it would have made it more of a stamina test.

One wasn’t an ideal draw for the winner but he was positioned great saving energy in a slow run race and didn’t have to work as hard as Cuailicar to get behind the leaders.
The French 3year crop looks crap! Except Azimpour with a better run tests them all. Bunched finish like in the Guineas, quite unsatisfactory in terms of there being a true champ. |

Buick did his best from wide and think you’re being harsh on him, the horse was brave too, seeing off either side Detain and Trinity College who was moved over alongside the Godolphin colt.
