I did both! Initially backed the 2ptp @ 1.65 then after further review realised possible error and backed the 1ptp @ 3.56.

maybe a smidge more to the right judging by the photo but still enough for the far side to hang on.

i have a strict rule...if you dont know the angle from grandstand to mirror do not get involved, just stupid and guessing..james edwards comment above made me lol today.

that's the problem, hard not to be influenced by the RTV still, you imagine it 'might' be stopped by a technician who knows where the line/angle actually is at a particular track. Wishful thinking.

its very dangerous unless you know the angle from the grandstand..even if you do,it can change, few weeks ago at Roscommon there was a photo..i know the angle well, had some fantastic returns, its 45 degrees left to right..stopped it on rtv and convinced this side had won comfy, games that hard now im terrified to lose a chunk so had £1200 on and im telling myself haway rico this is a 10k job (was 6/4) anyways called result and far side has won and im mortified ehhhhhhhhhhhh how. When i got home i cudnt get my head round it so checked the last Roscommon meeting which was end of last summer...when i checked, the mirror which is one of those on wheels and a tripod it was 2-3ft further right looking at the screen which totally changed the angle to grandstand on screen from 45 degrees to about 10 degrees...

Some of the Irish ones lately have been enough to send you to the nut farm. And now you're saying mobile tripods , and different from one meeting to the next, best avoided in current climate.

How many times do you get an English photo wrong?

4.55 Roscommon, 12 May. This was the RTV post-race still. As rico says, until this meeting that would have been a neck win for the near side. The only thing that saved me was the fear of affordability checks. I can't bring myself to lump on photos like this one any more, where the gap in the rail opposite the mirror is not on-screen (though even that doesn't tell you where the line is every time).

Thanks for sharing that, rico. New rule: never assume you know the angle if the mirror is on a trolley. Obvious really, in hindsight. Just a pity it cost £1,200 to find out.

I played the Roscommon one as well. Couldn't believe I lost! But the 'market' seemed to know, people at the track maybe.

stupid ? as obviously there's no angle for a jockey just the line, and jocks usually no when they've won
do you think the jock new he,d won ?

There is no visible line on those pics. Jockeys don't always know, but are likely to have a better idea than anyone watching those images.
