i think were both correct, definetly in the 80s 90s it was thursday, but i think it was then moved to friday and now saturday , , anyone confirm this please ! thx

Still a wonderful racecourse and a beautiful place for both horse and human,I was there last year and loved every minute though it wasn't the July 3 day meeting it was later and met the great man himself Donegal Prince..

elis - from what i read on here etc , the thursday is better day to go I'll probably scale the idea back and go for that and possibly even the Friday July Cup day was a great day in the past, had some good winners along the way too, but just can't see past the Saturday of it all right now |

takes a special kind of weapons grade ignorance to downgrade/ruin the history of the THE JULY CUP, MAGNET CUP and ASCOT MILE in space of 60 mins , had many days in past sat in a bar at York on a leisurely Fri discussing the previous days July cup winner,even before they moved the JULY CUP to sat,York used to struggle to get the top jocks appearing because of ASCOT and the big race in Ireland on same day,not sure the Irish race hasn't moved
