aob saddles 3 ,Ryan on Henri Matisse and a winner this season this looks to have been the target but short enough imo. Camile pissario a course winner should go well and a decent price ,plenty with chances ,often plenty of hard luck stories at this c&d and I prefer to play at bigger prices graffards have to be respected but at the prices I like the look of both misunderstood and horquetot ,misunderstood has decent form is lightly raced and the yard won this last year with metropolitan who had a similar profile and this one has also had a prep when 3rd on seasonal debut well drawn and usually  a prominent racer .
hoquetot has a bit to find with some of these but not a lot and looks a big price not as well drawn as some but could outrun his odds here.e of the Fab
in the pouliches zarigana is short enough imo could well win but I like the chance of the Fabre filly better together who has won her last 3 and could be a lot more to come .
selections misunderstood around 20/1 bog ew & hoquetot 40/1 ew bog much bigger on here . good luck opinions encouraged.

I can see Luther turning the form around with Detain and he's almost 3 times the price of that one on here. Luther was having his first run on the AW last time out and the race really wasn't run to suit him. He also looked in need of the race and he'll appreciate getting back on Turf. I also like Camille Paradiso who ran a decent race on seasonal debut when the stable's horse were needing a run. I expect him to take a good step forward from that run (he'll need to) and the going looks fine for him. I also don't think we seen the best of this horse yet.

I've split a 1 point between the pair.

Good luck with yours Foyles.

What a disappointment? Did the French stewards not consider the reverse angle (from the back) eg it was Moore (on Exactly) who deviated to the left bumping Zarigana after a crack from Moore to the horse's right?
Report tictacman1 May 21, 2025 1:30 PM BST
Zarigana remains the winner of the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches after the appeal lodged by connections of Shes Perfect was unsuccessful.

The raceday stewards at Longchamp judged that Shes Perfect came off a straight line at Longchamp, carrying Ryan Moore on Exactly across Zarigana, interference they deemed to have cost the Aga Khan Studs' filly more than the margin of her nose defeat.

A hearing lasting an hour took place on Tuesday, with Charlie Fellowes saying he and Shes Perfect's rider Kieran Shoemark had put forward some "legitimate arguments" to the three-person panel.

However, France Galop published the outcome on Wednesday with no change to the stewards initial awarding of the Classic to Zarigana.

Absolutely the correct decision, I've no idea what Fitzgerald was looking at with his interpretation.  On FG website you can see 4 angles, check out vue 3 and vue 4... on vue 3 you can see She's Perfect veers off a line pushing Exactly onto Z.. Z probably lost a length.
On vue 4 rear angle, and probably the one Fitzgerald was referring to, you can see strips in the grass and it's clear She's Perfect veers off a true line by 2 strips to the left as we see it, pushing Exactly onto Z..

People here are trying to make theories to promote She's Perfect.  The fact Barzalona rode a crap race, losing his whip and slapping down the neck is immaterial.

I’ve been critical of Shoemark riding, but see he did nothing wrong here. Connections and hometown decision as the Hulk pointed out powerful unit in French racing. Since the passing of the Aga they’d of waned a classic.

I don’t like the way they took all horses from Rouget after all he did for them. I don’t know how ill he is but Frankel helped Cecil focus on something else and gave him hope.

Dupre was my fav along with Delzangles - why did he fall out of favour Hulk? Something to do with Ridasynia?

I’ve seen Moore employ the side swipe manoeuvre many a time to protect the rail at Ascot, Hawkeye hung severely in Dante.

Parisian's see that they are different to the rest. The word peasant is still used to describe country folk!
My ex daren’t tell her old grandmother who was getting on (obviously for fear of upsetting her) that she was with an Englishman!
The scars run deep even if we helped liberate them.
Obviously not everyone is the same and one can only talk from experience.

England were playing Italy in the Euro final, guess who granny was cheering! LaughLaugh

I think that they should have professional stewards, there is so much at stake involved and it does leave a mark on the trainer if group horses aren’t the norm.

If the rematch occurs and the going is soft I’d say that they’d fancy their chances. I had no idea of who Basher was but he was interviewed on the morning of the race and said it might be too quick.

Add to that what Ollie Sangster said about his runner :

Sangster also had news on Nell Gwyn runner-up Celestial Orbit, who returned with a valid excuse after being well beaten in the French 1,000 Guineas on her latest start.

"The ground was way too quick for her and not the good to soft that was advertised," he said. "She's fine, but needs cut in the ground. We're very lucky to have these quality fillies and hopefully they can all have good seasons."

They were (media) desperate for the Aga Khan filly to be a superstar and even Graffard when interviewed seemed reluctant to class her as such.

Anyway Fellows has a lovely filly.

The Aga Khan Studs and France Galop have announced a new partnership which will see the racing and breeding operation take over an across-the-card sponsorship of Prix Jacques le Marois day during Deauville’s August racing festival.

The Aga Khan Studs will also sponsor the Group 3 Prix François Boutin, the Listed Prix Nureyev and Group 3 Prix Lady O'Reilly-Prix Minerve, an event in which the Aga Khan holds the record as an owner, with 11 victories since 1966, notably with Zarshana and Candarliya.

The Prix Jacques le Marois will take place on Sunday, August 17 in 2025, coinciding with the Arqana August Yearling Sale.

Nemone Routh, French racing manager of the Aga Khan Studs, said: “His Highness and Princess Zahra Aga Khan are committed to supporting the French racing industry, with four of our stallions based at Haras de Bonneval: Siyouni, one of Europe’s leading sires, Zarak, who is enjoying a meteoric rise, and our two young recruits, Cartier champion three-year-old Vadeni and Group-winning miler Erevann.

“The Group 1 Prix Jacques le Marois is one of the finest eight-furlong races in Europe. Its exceptional track record speaks for itself, and we are delighted to partner with France Galop to contribute to the promotion of this day, which occupies an essential place in the French racing calendar."

Elie Hennau, managing director of France Galop, said: "For more than 100 years, the Prix Jacques le Marois has been the epitome of talent and speed, becoming one of the summer highlights of the Deauville racing season. Each year it attracts a very international audience and raises the profile of French racing.

"France Galop is proud to continue the history of this significant race in our racing calendar with a new prestigious partner, the Aga Khan Studs. This major event, as well as the other races on the card that day, are an absolute must for any racing enthusiast.

"France Galop would like to take this opportunity to thank the Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard and the Niarchos family for their unwavering commitment to the Prix Jacques le Marois. Thanks to this exceptional partnership, the reputation of this challenge over the mile has gone from strength to strength. With our new partner, the Aga Khan Studs, we share the ambition to continue to grow the international renown of this outstanding competition."

Longchamp and Ascot present two different tests entirley, Simply Perfect was tiring over an easier toboggan mile in ground that the big filly didn’t love, hitting it hard. Whereas there’s not much of the Aga filly. The trial (where she was clearly overs) still showed that there isn’t much between them.

If I can learn because I’m always open to or share an insight I’d like to do so. The rest I’ve no need for. I just love racing particularly this time of year when there’s a lot of unknowns and potential for big odds.

The last two colts to have won the prix du Lys were Rail Link 2006 and the dependable Flintshire 2013.
Both however took in the Grand Prix De Paris before taking in the Prix Niel.

“Discussions with the Coolmore partners look likely to be geared around an autumn campaign, with the Arc the obvious target, while Roth said he was not a fan of the idea of heading to the Grand Prix de Paris next month if the summer turns into a hot one.”

This should have rang alarm bells not wanting to take that group 1 in. It’s one of the stats that counts towards being an Arc winner having already secured a Group 1.

So if I can help I will chip in with the odd bit of knowledge.

Agree, but as others have pointed out the French will have detested their way of celebrating.

Anyone who’s seen Fake or Fortune on the BBC or not seen it should watch when Fiona and the fella take the Monet (I think it was that) to the Wildenstein’s who preside over what is included within the catalogue raisonné.

The door was shut before they even were heard, their case fell upon deaf ears. One can surmise whether the painting being in British ownership counted against them or not.

As said earlier roots run deep and that family are another power house within France.
