Can't say I am too surprised. They don't look the best of renewals, and it's hard to find something solid at a price. O'Brien horses are probably shorter than they deserve off the back of the trainer mopping up a series of ordinary trials. I wanted to take Zarigana on, but would she have to be that good to beat this lot? Owner 'second string' is almost second favourite, and so far doesn't look anything better than a Group 3 horse.

will be putting up a thread nearer race time ,there look to be one or two at decent prices with hopefully better chances than the odds suggest .

I think Zarigana despite the home hype she ought to have the edge over this lot. Let's hope 'Denise' goes 2/1 for her.

Hopeful of Jonquil in the Poulin. I felt for Andrew Balding when he was elbowed out of our 2000 Gns by Field of Gold so I hope he can win this one.

Agree sage, I like jonquil today. Decent profile for this race as well as a decent performance Lto. Henri Matisse too short for me and given on what he achieved last year be surprised if there isn't anything here to beat him. Definite lay.

Awful summer jumps handicap more important for sky Crazy

Barzalona trying to get the Stewards to get him out of jail after sitting too far back and then dropping his whip. The winner did veer across Ryan Moore who in turn pushed Zarigana out as well so depends what the French rules say. No doubt that Zarigana is the best filly but it was beaten in the photo.

My bet on Zarigana still showing as a loser on my Betfair statement. Have they applied their own rules?

Does it time and again, keep to rail, some shocking rides there today and far too many jocks to slate! Reminds me of Walsh bagging the rail and the others scared to impose on his space!

That's cruel to connections of She's Perfect, and jockey Shoemark. Was there any head-on to warrant a change of result?I thought Shoemark had the whip in the correct hand (left); I understand She's Perfect was judged to have bumped Exactly who in turn made contact with Zarigana who finished 2nd.

I was looking forwards to the races, hoping to see a bigger pool of.talent that was lacking in our version for the mile, but there were some really bad rides and I think that many trainers here and there are barrel scraping with who they trust to ride for them.

Going forwards there’ll be winners come out of it over different trips and softer ground, but would I trust the same jocks?

Is Zarigana all hype? The form does not seem to amount to much on the surface. Both fillies are Ascot Coronation Stakes bound apparently. And, if Desert Flower runs and probably Lake Victoria too it could be a belter if everyone turns up.

I lost a few accas as a result of the defeat of Field Of Gold. In contrast, today I've gained a few accas as a result of the promotion of Zarigana from 2nd to winner post an enquiry. Swings and roundabouts esp in horseracing.

Zarigana was given a lot to do, then Barzalona dropped his whip and then she was pushed off a straight line so she is a lot better than the form suggests. It was still a bunch finish though which suggests that none of them are outstanding.

Zarigana was asked to do a similar thing, and finished 2nd - no incident in that race though. Another hold-up exaggeration/misjudgement by the pilot or stamina limitation is 8f? Nevertheless, extremely lucky for backers, I reckon.

Zarigana did beat She's Perfect in April in a trial for this over c/d and the report says that She's Perfect hung left that time as well.

With a tendency to hang left it's unlikely she'll be suited for the Coronation Stakes at Ascot. The rightful winner for the French 1000G.

I'd not rush to back Zarigan winner either at Ascot.
