I really must read up on this story. This is the good side of ITV racing, nuggets of history. Well done Mr Hoiles and the ladies interviewed/

Name a better rider ?

Not many tbf,a few to match…

I always worshipped the guy but now I realise how wrong I have been.
Little hairdresser played a huge part in getting DOZENS of stable lads and staff SACKED. Piece of chit. |
By:
If my memory is correct, he is not the only one that rode to the start through the picket lines during that strike.
He is not the brightest in the game but credit to him when he stuck by Hern when he got ousted from West Isley stables and heavily criticised the landlord, HM Queen Elizabeth II. A deed which probably cost him a Knighthood. .... forget "probably" and replace with "Certainly". |

Lester did it too

themightymac...
Lord Porchester was giving her advice (around horsey issues i might add) at that time... he must have had input in to that decision i would suggest... Harry's Daddy. |

Purely riding skill…..judge and how to use the whip……not like some of the rag doll type who thrash when beaten…
By:
Piggott ….
= Eddery…. = Carson….. Each to their own tbh… |
By:
i always had Kieren Fallon as one of the better 'whippers' tbh aceform.
By:
I can only remember Carson using the gentle tap hibb….Richard Quinn much the same…
Spencer the Risen still belts hard…. |
By:
Luke Morris is hideous imv aceform...
how anyone gives him rides is beyond me tbh. |
By:
Dreadful hibb, imagine him going to Australia or USA with all that movement and bouncing, whip flying around looking like he’s about to fall off….ffs
By:
i'm no fan of Yank jockeys but they must think he's a complete and utter joke quite frankly aceform.
By:
I was there that day.
By:
Never mind the amount of winners he rides despite the complications of his seriously compromised shoulder joint which is why his style is as it is?
By:
Most of the yanks are poor hibb, remember Ortiz over at Ascot fkn dreadful….
By:
the bloke who does the punditry on big American stuff aceform...
Breeders Cup etc... forget his bl00dy name now... weak as a kitten in a finish... put him up against a Fallon or Eddery and it would look utterly embarrassing imv... total powder puff garbage... and who was that 'world class' jockey that rode a few in Ireland a year or two back ? absolute garbage... if someone told me he was a 7lb claimer i'd believe them. |
By:
the bloke who does the punditry on big American stuff aceform...
------------------------------------------------------------------- Bailey...Jerry Bailey. |
By:
and who was that 'world class' jockey that rode a few in Ireland a year or two back ?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jonny Velazquez i think ? powder puff nonsense imv. |
By:
Laughable hibb, the shoe got nailed in the Derby…..
By:
absolute cobblers.
By:
Shirley Heights right on the button….
By:
All jockeys are basically weasels. Carson was a weasel who flourished in the golden age of British racing: Eddery, Cauthen and a second-tier who were born a generation too early. And above them all Lester Piggott near the height of his powers
Saw Carson at Cheltenham this year. He has shrunk to about 4'5''. |

Heroes !!
![]() |
By:
The only heroes for me Acey are surgeons who save lives and military personnel who protect us….
Everyone else has a job to do…. |
By:
And all the rest of the Lads who came out on Strike imho.
By:
Stable staff would still be on 10 Bob a Week if it wisney for these guys.
![]() |
By:
Changed days now Acey …
Most companies would have you on £1 an hour and tell you not to sleep in tbh…..greed merchants….. |
By:
Carson On The Deck.

Example Acey, independent tanker companies going into a refinery the driver is asked by the union if the hourly pay fits….if not they take action…..
By:
I remember when Fallon "whipped" Ballinger Ridge to the perfection of a s.h.defeat - having been fully ten in front a furlong out. lol.
By:
Spot on acey.

One thing ITV racing has been good at... showing the stable staff more and more. Some work all hours and it is like they do not exist.
