I would say he probably needs slower ground.
This race sums up the overnight markets these days. Front two looked weak last night, now strong. Funiculi Funicula seemingly a mover last night, now can't give it away 9/1-18/1. What's changed? |

I agree on the ground but I'd still fancy him today if he makes it a test. Horse looks a real staying chaser in the making.

have they put more water down overnight ?

If The Yellow Clay's not over the top I don't see why he should reverse
the Cheltenham form, was going away from him up the hill. |

Mr Mullins is very brave, or he knows something we do not. I'm surprised to see him over the same distance he was defeated. A swap from the 'potato' race to Neptune backfired badly at Cheltenham.

Good shot MJK,he rode to your instructions!
Confirmed what he was at Leopardstown there. |

I hope I did not put anyone off. That was a totally different performance to Cheltenham. Townend did not hang around, and dictated from the front before winding it up with 2 to jump. A 5 shortie from Cheltenham to atone for their defeat.

Looked very good today. Cheltenham does not suit some horses as we have seen all week.

Horse is the Gold Cup horse in two years. I thought it after Cheltenham where, imop, he would've won with the same ride. Biggest bet of the year for me so far. It doesn't always pan out of course. Poor ol' Racing Blogger will be on suicide watch if Constitution doesn't wi after doing his goolies there

Well done, just as ordered. In a different league. They are not running quick times, and soft ground horses are not being impeded, if anything it's the other way round. In line with the drift the fourth got a very negative ride (as if they expected nothing), highlighted by steadying into one flight and losing probably more than he was beaten for third. I would hope it is the Brown Advisory next year for the winner, but the trainer is often reluctant to up them in trip.

DD theyre definitely finding the ground a bit holding. Every race they're strung out.

I am puzzled what happened to him at Cheltenham. Course not suit, or just an off day

The New Lion is all speed and is expected to come down to 2 miles next season. MJK quite right, the only way Final Demand could have won was to have made all and run the stamina out of the other 2.
