They will not want to lose tomorrow's meeting, and will be doing all they can to give it the go ahead.
Truth is, we had a torrential downpour Tuesday evening into the early hours, which in itself would've turned the going SOFT, and on top of that we've had heavy rain ALL DAY today, which is due to carry on into tomorrow morning, which would normally make the inspection a formality. |

Newton abbot has passed the 730 inspection racing goes ahead

Cheers, jimnast
Good news, and slightly surprising Going verging on Heavy I would think |
|
By:
Just looked up BHA site
Going is Heavy and light rain still falling but due to stop before racing Situation will be monitored I hope there's not going to be a late call-off, but no further inspection planned so fingers crossed |
|
By:
Yes probably will be heavy reg but at least it gives those who have been going Easter Saturday for many years a day in the fresh air.
|

I agree, jimnast, and not a bad card, field-size wise, for Newton abbot
I expect a few non runners with the Heavy going but still Would have jumped on the train and gone, only an hour away, I rarely miss a Newton abbot meeting, but the kids and grandkids are coming today instead of tomorrow for their Easter visit... Most annoying |

You will have a lovely day with your grandkids newton abbot will be on again soon.

True jimnast
About 50 miles North of Newton abbot here and the rain is really heavy If they're getting this for any length of time this morning it's gonna be touch and go, imo |
|
By:
Fingers crossed reg I must admit it doesn’t look over the line yet hope it’s on it’s already a disappointing days racing for a holiday weekend.
|
|
By:
Reg is it correct that you have had a lot of rain the last few weeks ?
I'm near ascot and had none for weeks bar a few drops a couple of days ago. |
|
By:
Hello, oneten
Not the last few weeks, was really warm, 23/24, last week Just the last few days, although further South in Devon and Cornwall I understand they've had even more |
|
By:
Thanks reg , that's interesting to hear. So do you think they've been busy watering thr course then to make it heavy ? Can't see how firm ground as in Taunton and wincanton would go heavy in one downpour.. so doesn't seem possible to me unless they've over watered.

What a coincidence I’ve got sounds of the sixties on Tony Blackburn about an hour behind the live show and he’s playing the sun ain’t gonna shine anymore the walker brothers

By:
Wouldn't like to say if they've been watering at all, to be fair
And it was more than one downpour, heavy rain for a few days The soil may be different to those other courses, and it's right next to a river if that makes a difference? Anyway, few non runners coming through now as predicted Hope it goes ahead for connections and racegoers |

Jimnast, I can't listen to Tony Blackburn without thinking of Smashy and Nicey
