A former racehorse owner is alleged to have lost £270,000 after the collapse of an illegal bookmaker, Birmingham Magistrates court heard on Monday.
The details came to light as Haydon Simcock, a former manager of a racing ownership syndicate, pleaded not guilty to two charges relating to the running of The Post Bookmakers.

This seems like a lot of trouble to go to in order to get a bet on. Especially when all you have to do in order to get a bet on with a licensed and regulated bookmaker is decide whether you want to put it all into a Lucky Leprechauns slot machine or play roulette and stick it all on Red!
And remember, before Affordability Checks you could have as much on as you liked on a horse with all those brilliant bookmakers that are licensed and regulated!  I read somewhere that as recently as this weekend a man in Somerset got £2.50 Each Way on a horse with one of the major firms. |
