IT'S BECOME PUNCHESTOWN MOVED TO GLOUCESTERSHIRE. A few stray English horses competing with loads of horses you know **** all about from across the Irish Sea.

It's a plot by the Racing Post to make us pay them to read the form.

Unless the prize money and the affordability checks change very soon, there will be very few chasers trained in England in 5 years time.

I've been mad on it for donkeys years but a strange 'so what' feeling has emerged in recent years.

They shouldn't have allowed those Frenchies play in England last night. The cheek.

You’d have to be an idiot to know **** all about Irish horses given the ease of access to video form.

If racing was worried about its carbon footprint it should be moved to Ireland.

Attended yesterday and today.

Not overly impressed anymore, too many of these hashtag, banter lad types. Bl00dy yobs, drunk of cats pizz.

Think tomorrow is an awful card and should go back to 3 days. I've never missed a festival since 1987 but next year? Not so sure.

And tomorrow's card a complete pin job. If you get one winner you'll have done well.

first 2 days the races have been free to air dramatic sporting entertainment. be grateful.
Report eric_morris March 13, 2025 12:17 AM GMT
there’s no need to be grateful though, bookies need that free exposure the most to pull in the bets from the public masses.
Report TameTheTiger March 13, 2025 12:23 AM GMT
i love watching golf and horse racing on tv. golf has been taken away unless i subscribe hundreds of pounds to sky. im grateful i still have the top class racing to watch every week.

Too many idiots turning up at Cheltenham/ Aintree etc. The "pound on the nose" merchants in their £30 shiny suits swilling ale from plastic "glasses", remembering when Frankie Dettori won the Grand National on Desert Orchid at Ascot!
Report MJK March 13, 2025 8:03 AM GMT
It's a bit like all sporting events/concerts since Covid. As soon as everything got back to 'normal' everyone wanted to be at everything. Even the bands/singers who can barely stand anymore have been selling out everywhere. The younger generation want to be seen at everything and posting it on Facebook,  older generations got a fright and are in the 'life is short' mode and are making up for lost time. Racing is ahead of the rest in the inevitable collapse of all this. The other sporting events and concerts will no doubt start to see the decline of punters soon, as the greed of pricing will eventually dawn on customers across the board.
Report smartie3 March 13, 2025 9:19 AM GMT
Kids stay at home, dont get a property of their own = more available cash. Middle aged up to their hock in debt, CC's prioritise their football season ticket, Sky etc over horses. Older generation find it difficult with so many young drunks on course and when they see the price of the rail fare...dont get me started! = Festival numbers down

42,000 would be the right amount to get around d,drinks, food toilets etc
that's 25,000 tkt sales short at around d a 100 quid a pop and bookies, bars, food outlets losing 25,000 customers ,having seen  a few vids of hell hole on earth beni, with 200/300 sat outside 50 pubs, beni doing their best to bring punters back on course next yr

Im ambivalent towards the GC tomorrow. Wheres the UK trainers? Maybe the entry cost of a horse is putting UK owners off putting the horses in the race. The rest is probably down to a decline of a sport (probably wont exist in 50 years from now, at least not in its current shape) and the rise of betting on other sports (football in particular) and put this together with an economic downturn at the moment.
Report smartie3 March 13, 2025 9:33 AM GMT
When I went racing as a youth I wanted to see Silver Buck, Night Nurse, Warning, Sea Pigeon, Kris, Shergar, Dancing Brave etc. Not sure the young kids have any affinity with the horses in the main. More interested in the amber nectar
