I am not minded to support capital punishment, but in this 101% clear cut case, it is surely warrented.

I hope this chap rots in hell for a very, very long time, but my gut feeling is that he will not be around for long.

How JH and his daughter have got through the last few months is truly remarkable, my heart goes out to them both and I hope the next time I go racing, I bump into him to shake his hand. It would be an honour.

I am truly in awe of the extraordinary dignity and courage displayed by John Hunt following the mind-numbing atrocity inflicted on his family by this pathetic, cowardly, narcissistic waste of space. I don't have the words,but I wish John and his daughter tranquility and peace for the future, no matter how impossible that prospect seems to me.

Letby innocent or guilty, you could never be 100% sure. Clifford you could be, there's a case for death penalty in horrible crimes and 100% sure of conviction.

You'd get a lot less people pleading guilty - and therefore a hell of lot more families reliving their pain going through very lengthy trials. For the people worried about the taxpayers money - trials are very expensive.

You'd also get some victims and families of victims that are truly religious (rather than just pretending they are,) and therefore genuinely believing in the sanctity of life.

There is plenty wrong with the justice system but it's part of what marks us out as a civilised society and you often find that the people shouting loudest for the death penalty are ironically the same people (falsely) proclaiming that the whole country is heading towards Sharia Law.

I would rather send them to a jail in Siberia……they stand in one position 8 hours a day…slop food and always feeling cold,they house some of the most venomous animals in mankind…

I'd like to see the government bringing in a legislation categorising the types of murders like the prison establishment. I firmly believe blatant, calculated and premeditated murders ought to be given the death sentence after having served at least 10/15 years. This period will allow every appeal process exhausted fully and definitively.

75 minute documentary but they didn't delve into Clifford's family background / upbringing, which considering two murderers had come out of the family, was perhaps something they could have looked into.

When the female army sergeant was being interviewed, she said something about a "dysfunctional family", but that seemed a presumption, and wasn't the impression neighbours had given when asked about the family, in at least one report I'd read.

The documentary also ran with the Andrew Tate online story, even though I think the judge had said he didn't think it was relevant.

It appears Clifford had been known to police as he had been caught in possession of cannabis as a juvenile, so were he and his brother users from a young age?

Think the judge missed an opportunity, now they have power, of ordering Clifford to be wheeled into court to hear John and Amy Hunt's statements. It happened last week in the Prosper case. The trial was moved in the first place to Cambridge to accommodate Clifford.

... Or just play an audio of the Impact Statements into his cell ? One way or another he should have been made to hear them.

Do you live in a leafy suburb or village? I'm assuming not. If you live somewhere where litter dropping makes local news, this happening on your doorstep would be a big shock. I've experienced both types of living, there isn't much that would shock you in some parts of London. This is just human nature.

Victim hurt in attack involving crossbow 'stable'
One of two women seriously injured in an attack involving a crossbow and a firearm in Leeds has undergone surgery for "life-threatening injuries".

Counter Terrorism Policing North East said the "isolated incident" involving the women aged 19 and 31, happened on Otley Road, in the Headingley area, at about 14:47 BST on Saturday.

One of the women was sent home from hospital earlier while the other, who underwent surgery, was now in a stable condition, police said.

A 38-year-old man, who officers said was "the key suspect", remains in hospital in a critical condition, under police guard, after suffering a "self-inflicted injury".

The incident occurred on Otley Road in Headingley while people were taking part in the popular Otley Run pub crawl.

Cordons around the scene on Otley Road were removed on Sunday evening.
