Council tax

My water bill has just gone up about 300 quid, wouldn't be so bad if the feckers were halfway competent.

I'm under Falkirk District Council

I believe ours will be 4.90 % not received the letter yet ,Seems to be High rises across scotland

It's been frozen for a few years, now it's payback.

No one is accountable  they just blame everyone else. I always wonder what sort of financial background these councillors have, probably none but they are in charge of multi million pound budgets and what it is spent on.

My local council put a leaflet through the door breaking down the council tax spend. I don't use any of it, except the fortnightly bin collection, and upkeep of local roads (which is nothing for them to crow about!)

Basically £2.5k per year to get my bins emptied. And you have to pay extra for any garden waste.

Don't think too many would want to live under Birmingham Council. You pay your Council Tax and still don't your bins emptied.

If there was a betfair market for the most INCOMPETENT District Council in the U.K. It would be Mid -Devon  District ; an overpaid "Chief Executive " £2,000 a week * YES ) that amount . Track record , Bankrupted medium sized ( Pemberton ) company , refused payment for Work done ; then coughed up 2/3 of a million pound ( confidential agreement ) from  A/C  Ment to help tenants . Bought retail outlet , middle of Tiverton when obvious decline in urban shopping ; helped footfall by increasing parking charges in all adjacent areas ; new Lidl's opended , so their's shut . Against sage advice ( and fiasco of Palmerston Park as SET -OUT ABOVE ) , Decided to form a Building company  , taking on companies with years of experince and nous ; 3 Directors who you let run a ten -bob raffle at your peril .Built on sites , in some cases suitable only for Sherpas ( and fit buggers at that ) ; a few sucessful small sites , but then , against all sense ,reason and obvious snags set out constructing 40 flats , dwellings  with so many defects they are still unoccupied  after many ,many ,months ; no rental income plus , the effects of being empty .The solution  !! , sell them to themselves , ( Confidential price) . Still not passed fit to live in . Can anyone better / worsen this ?? . It puts the ground -nut scheme in the 50's , in context .
