no other country subjects its gambolling businesses to such absurdity
its incredibly highly taxed and regulated as it is. being a bookmaker is a very difficult thing to be in the uk. the margins are small and racing is too expensive. you can hardly blame them for pursuin other options
those who go on about casino games miss the point. they are entirely legal and heavily regulated by the state. if the govt. licences such entertainment with prizes, and the bookmakers offer them to a public well aware of them and their potential payouts, whos fault is it?
the gc should fine the state for allowing them. the lottery is the worst of all, by a mile. who is agitating against that? they simply dont get it. buy a million scratchcards or lucky dips, no prob. have a bet on a horse, where your chances are immeasurably better statisitically
if, insted of doing the lotto, you pick random numbers at plumpton, you will be paid the correct odds(minus the o/r) but it is a close approximation
win the lotto at 49 000 000/1 and you could get 100 quid. at least if you select 123456, which ive been praying for, as the disappointment wll be immense for those mugs. apparently, thousands do

"Yes, I blame the gambling commission for overbearing regulations driven by antigambling activists at the very part of their live experience panels notably representatives of Gambling lives which the gc have allowed to infest regulations
But it has to be said the major gambling companies have been entirely complicit in this farce. They have already implemented illegal affordability checks which has not been established in law on their customers, and are currently driving both single customer view and open banking solutions to drive up their profits.
If you sign up for any of these operators indeed if you maintain an account with them, you are simply giving them the nod that how they behave is acceptable to you"

Here's Kenny Alexander, former Chief Executive, GVC (Ladbrokes etc now Entain) at a parliamentary meeting about five years ago, when affordability checks were being discussed and it was Alexander himself saying that the bookmaking industry wants to bring in customer "single view", so that any bookmaker can see what a person has deposited with all firms, and that's what Geoff is saying, punters are essentially agreeing to open banking.

Just to be clear the £500 deposit limit I negotiated is irrelevant now to avoid emails, phone calls, bank statements needed etc? Deposit £151 and "background checks" like the ones listed above will be demanded?

Anyone still paying into a pension scheme or a stocks and shares ISA is risking thousands of pounds each year and is being encouraged to do so. Talk about double standards.

There is a bigger picture than this wherever money is involved.
There will be those in government who own businesses and those who lobby for those owning businesses that see many billions of the public’s disposable income going to gambling companies.
They will want to make this process as difficult as possible so those billions go to companies non-gambling related.
It is greed related as usual.

what if the 150 is say 50% of their monthly income, that would be 50,000 to someone on a 100 grand, would you consider someone losing 50 grand vulnerable, the lower down the income scale you go the more the money is needed ,small amounts might be big %,s of disposable income

Or the banks who benefit most from investments have too much influence with the Treasury. They do and of course Ms Reeves comes from a banking background. They encourage the masses to risk their money in shares or the National Lottery but frown on anything as sleazy as horse racing. Things are slipping away very fast and when you add in animal welfare, the number of powerful lobbies against our sport is getting very big. Greyhound racing already banned in Wales!

there is a report on the RP site about Santander Emailing customers about their betting turnover despite the fact that one of them made a profit! There must be pressure coming from the Government or the Gambling Commission for a bank to do this. The customers will probably change banks so Santander have nothing to gain from this crass Email other than a "star" from the GC. How dare they question a legal payment to a legal company when they seem to allow payments for illegal activity like knives, porn and so on. This has to be tested in court before it is too late.

Some knives are illegal and can still be bought online using a bank card. Why don't banks Email customers about that? There is a concerted campaign to close down betting on racing which needs challenging in court.
