How long does he have to appeal? If time allows all he has to do is appeal a couple of days before Cheltenham and the ban will be suspended until the following week when it's decided.

2 over apparently he'd need Blake on steroids to claim 2 were air shots. He needs to take his medicine. He should've spent more time at school learning the 3 Rs than riding ponies back home.

I'm not sure how the appeal process works, you are probablyright MHK. You would have thought it was black and white but I doubt that will be the case. I'm no fan of the numbers game but those are the rules and he has clearly broke them.

Rules doing what they are supposed to do so the press making something of not very much. You would fall over backwards if they ever said someone deserved a ban. Thank goodness he couldn't weasel his way out. Unless they get rid of hitting them at all you are always going to get the odd case.

Shouldn't be allowed to get away with it.

Used all his whip number up with quarter a furlong to go
2nd horse started coming back with a run, so gave it a few more cracks in order to win.

Sky Sports Racing using words like 'unfortunate' 'such a shame' 'unlucky'
also the Racing Post saying the ban is 'brutal' and the rules 'bent them a bit' doesn't help
so we're never going to get anywhere

You know who's unlucky Intimate, Deutsch/Williams and connections, who didn't cheat and came 2nd at Hereford

It looked on Sunday that none of the other runners in the race wanted to win, I would be very wary of backing the winner to follow up.

Jockey's do have the option of moving their suspension from the committee back to 14 days but Bowen is already suspended on the Sunday and Monday so cannot switch the dates.

He's appealing. Is this making a mockery of the rules and regulations of the sport? He's form, and incurred the wrath of BHA previously. And, he's definitely guilty yet he's appealing.

I'll be appalled if the BHA allows a postponement of his suspension just because it's The Cheltenham Festival. A suspension is supposed to educate and deter any future transgression of the whip rules. He's still young, and there will be many Cheltenham for him in the future.

Disagree personally. Serve your time around Cheltenham seems fair given it was not a big breach of the rules.

how can it make a mockery of the rules, when it's in the rules that jockeys are permitted to appeal?

So he accepts the ban, then there is a bit of press whining, and now all of a sudden he's appealing? There should be an extra penalty added for frivolous appeals.

I firmly believe the option of manipulating a suspension date is ludicrous and unethical.

Regards Mr Bowen. On what basis is his appeal? Would he still have appealed if the suspension could be incresed to a calendar month for an injudicious and frivolous appeal? He's already unable to ride on the sunday prior (I believe). A suspension is supposed to be an inducement to repent not to circumvent or manipulate to prioritise the individual's interest. If Mr Bowen is unable to partake in next month's Cheltenham, tough luck. Next time, do not do the crime if unhappy or unwilling to accept the statutory sentence.

I'm sure other jockeys can deputise just as competently.

I received a PCN because the back wheels of my car were in a yellow innocuous junction. I coughed up rather than protest or said the vehicle infront could have edged forward a bit (there was room), but it did not; £65 the fee...tough for me. But, I'll learn from it.
