not BR ,but we have 30 yrs of trainers running grade 1 horses in handicaps and now the chelt winner factor has horses directed to county hurdle/handicaps instead of champion hurdle

Would need to finish 2nd or win County to earn more than 5th in the Champion.

Presumably owner would rather have a festival winner than a CH 5th

There's a fair chance that he will finish fifth in a Champion Hurdle, but I wouldn't give him any chance of even placing in a County Hurdle. As I said on the other thread his improvement has come from the front under both codes. Very little chance of repeating that in a County. He was given a relatively easy time on the front end in the Greatwood, and still only fell over the line off a much lower mark. The only chance of him getting any return at all is in the Champion Hurdle.

The owner is quite likely to get his Festival winner in the Triumph.
