They did switch family day from today till later in the season when they saw the forecast Thursday.

makes sense jimnast.

Fontwell track heavy in places but the weather there deteriorates later this afternoon so may have struck lucky in that respect.

I seen fontwell run on shocking ground leif and todays there big day with the national spirit been run,a bit of trivia here for you beech road won the race in his champion hurdle season and barracuda won the same season as he won the stayers hurdle.

Decent;)

As did my way de solzen in his stayers hurdle season, nothing much since though.
Report leif February 23, 2025 11:58 AM GMT
My Way De Solzen won this in 2006 and then the Ladbroke World Hurdle (Stayers) a month later at the festival.

Josh Gifford had a very good horse called rouble which won the race before suffering a fatal accident in the sun alliance hurdle .
Report jimnast February 23, 2025 12:11 PM GMT
Guy harwood trained vagador won the race in 88 before winning the supreme novice hurdle 3 weeks later.
Report jimnast February 23, 2025 12:13 PM GMT
The best horse to run in the champion hurdle and not win the race birds nest won the national spirt in 1979 .even the great comedy of errors won it twice .
Report jimnast February 23, 2025 12:14 PM GMT
And the last bit of pointless information is the first winner salmon spray has a bar named after him at fontwell .
Report wondersobright February 23, 2025 12:23 PM GMT

Jimnast, I was at Fontwell in 89 the day Beech Road won, didn't back it that day but did back him at 50/1 in the Champion Hurdle 2 or 3 weeks later on the strength of what I'd seen

Birds Nest and Comedy Of Errors were 2 of the reasons I fell in love with  horse racingLoveCool

Reg

I also backed beech road in the champion hurdle amazingly a few weeks later he won again at Aintree at 10/1 that’s some price for a horse that was the champion hurdle winner.

If you remember he had been novice chasing that season and fell at Cheltenham the screens were out but he got up and they reverted back to hurdles.
Report jimnast February 23, 2025 1:18 PM GMT
A good day at Aintree for toby he also won the grand national
Report jimnast February 23, 2025 1:22 PM GMT
He also ran in stable companion Morley streets champion hurdle along with 23 others
Report Regbutler February 23, 2025 1:40 PM GMT
That GN day was a very good day for me as well Jimnast
Did Beech Road again, at 10/1 as you say, then Little Polvier in the GN at 28/1 as I recall. Then I saw Morley Street was running in the last on the card so stuck him in as well,on the basis that if I was backing Toby to have 2 winners in a day, might have 3 .. Might have been a bumper or novice hurdle, but anyway he won as well at about 3s...
A good evening ensued
Report jimnast February 23, 2025 1:45 PM GMT
I should hope it did reg

Morley street had as much talent as any hurdler I’ve seen even good enough to beat a reigning st leger winner at goodwood
Report Regbutler February 23, 2025 1:51 PM GMT
Kribensis winning the year after was also one of my favourites
Report jimnast February 23, 2025 1:58 PM GMT
He was beaten when a very short price in a champion hurdle possibly odds on
Report jimnast February 23, 2025 2:01 PM GMT
Just checked it was 11/8 favourite finished 7th Willie Mullins road the 8th horse
Report jimnast February 23, 2025 2:03 PM GMT
Dermot browne and Graham Bradley both fell in the race how unfortunate
