What I'd be more concerned about if I was him was JB riding a double for NJH at Doncaster and himself on one moderate animal at Ludlow.
Report Cider February 19, 2025 7:02 PM GMT
NDB unlikely to travel all the way to Donny for a couple of ok chances in small pot races.
Report punchestown February 21, 2025 3:52 PM GMT
He would go where NJH told him to go.
Report Cider February 21, 2025 4:22 PM GMT
If Hendo told him to go he would go. But he wouldn't do that for a couple of egg and spoon rides 'oop north'. That's why they've got a younger 2nd rider who is happy to pound the motorway miles.

Just seems a bit odd to give up a decent chance of a double.Confused

Would be similar to PT over the water, he's not too interested in the numbers or fodder. Hendo much more keen he's around for the galacticos

If you think that Nico will take over the yard when the 74yo packs it in, he might already be training them, and cherry picking the rides as he sees fit. He went to Haydock for one ride when Itstonitejosephine won.

I've noticed alright the last few years that once Xmas is gone PT dodges a whole lot more rides (mostly beginners and Novice chases) with March in mind but Nico dodged 2 hurdle winners Grin

Here it's the travelling as well. Donny is at least 6 hours round with decent traffic. Probably would do Newbury or whatever. Even Ludlow is a fair trek
Report Cider February 21, 2025 5:13 PM GMT
I don't know how any of them do it tbh, I used to do 2 hours every day and that was plenty.
Report Cider February 21, 2025 5:14 PM GMT
Yep I'd say Nico is effectively joint trainer. It's not the usual jock / trainer relationship
Report oneten February 21, 2025 5:41 PM GMT
Piffle, sorry..  Nico is not training them nor taking over.  CM has been hands on for years and is Hendo's trusted right hand and eyes since he relinquished his licence and went back to seven barrows.
Report Cider February 21, 2025 5:58 PM GMT
To be clear, I am referencing the strategic element of training. Not the actual hands on bit. Nico is making the calls, or at least playing a significant part in them.

Sorry cider but no.
Do you really think nico is saying to the lads riding out in the morning , how's that one fell jonno ? Yes take him up am other time at 3/4 speed and finish upsides ?
I can tell you he's not. Sorry but that is a long way off the mark.

Hibore also claims an in at 7b and yet had no clue about certain horses schooling under Nico, info that might have benefited the Forum, why did he not share it? Could he be FOS IYO, like asking questions on behalf of a friend for example?
