Not many films made these days are worth watching, but this is a great film. Ben Whishaw is brilliant as the guy having a breakdown.

they could have saved the expense of actors pretending to have a breakdown by filming you in your bedsit with its posters of your fave pop singers curling up at the edges while you play cluedo against yourself

and still lose

Radio Times review

Centred around a blistering lead turn by Ben Whishaw, this nerve-racking thriller depicts a young man's spiral into violence and lawlessness over a frantic 24-hour period. Joseph is an airport security guard who always seems to hover on the periphery. He's so quiet that none of his colleagues even know it's his birthday, but they happily eat the cake he brings in to celebrate. After a disastrous lunch with his parents (the fantastic Ellie Haddington and Ian Gelder), Joseph goes on a crime spree through London, liberated by living by his own rules, seemingly for the first time. Debut director Aneil Karia (best known for Channel 4's Top Boy) uses claustrophobic close-ups and hand-held framing to nail-biting effect, and the film is frequently unbearably tense. There is an overreliance on symbolism, and the exact reasons for Joseph's turmoil are left unsaid, but there are tantalising layers to Whishaw's lived-in performance and he is the reason to keep watching.

I switched off just after the disastrous lunch with his parents... Maybe I should revisit, sounds like that's when something less depressing happens.

A bleak portrayal of an unstable unpleasant character. I had to turn it off,
some 'entertainment' is just too much hard work.

Haven't watched it yet so can't comment on this film, but have recorded it to watch later. What i would say to Freddie is that 5 mins of the beginning of a film is not enough to say it's absolute Pish.
Great films i would have thought were pish after 5 mins include " The Deerhunter", " The thief, the cook his wife and her lover", "The Kite Flyer" etc, all brilliant films which you have to keep watching to get into. I'm sure there are many more films others could think of which take a while to get going.
