Do you mean upgrading the processor in your existing machine? It's not an easy job unless you are used to installing PC components. You need to unfix the existing cooling system, pull out the existing processor, then install the new one with thermal paste and reinstall cooling. You also need to make sure the new processor is compatible with the motherboard and fits into the right socket. What processor do you have again?

aye i saw it on a youtube video jamee...

didn't look that difficult tbh...

not sure if you have to rebuild windows or anything  tho ?

i5 - 7500 CPU @ 3.4GHz.

I wouldn't have thought you need to reinstall Windows, but I've never done it before so you'd need to check.

The socket type of the i5-7500 is LGA1151 so you'd need to get a processor that fits. A quick internet search suggests this goes up to 9th generation, which is 6 years old, so i9-9900K would be the fastest you could get. https://www.pcguide.com/cpu/guide/best-lga-1151/ This still only gets a score of 18219 (compared to 6032 for your existing processor though), but it's going to cost you £380. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/2910vs3334/Intel-i5-7500-vs-Intel-i9-9900K You'd probably be better off getting a new PC or laptop with a more modern processor. AMD probably offer more bang for your buck.

If this is still about skipping BFL video then I really would try a mobile internet connection first.

thanx for that info jamee...

i don't have a mobile that can take data tbh...

i think it ain't capable of connecting to 4G tbh...

i wouldn't really want to use the phone anyway as i'm one of those folk who says that the more you put on there the more trouble you can get in if it gets nicked/hacked...

i'll just have to sit and suffer i think...

RTV LV had been fine for days and then yesterday it started up again...

i still don't think it's anything to do with my PC tbh  but i thought i'd ask about the CPU anyway.
By:

i tend to agree tbh Mr.Hunt...

it's all a bit strange...

i know folk who have the same issue i have with RTV LV which makes me believe it's nowt to do with MY equipment.

What's the CPU% and memory% figures at the top of each column?
By:
HappyHibby
When: 31 Jan 25 17:33
CPU 5%

Memory 44%

Disk 1%

Network 0%

That's when there is no BLV race currently playing...

i will do it when the next at Dundalk starts to see what that shows.
By:
HappyHibby
When: 31 Jan 25 17:38
just watched Meydan race...

CPU was between 10-14% jamee.

same for Dundalk.

CPU% hardly changed...

net time my mate pops down i'll ask him about his mobile.

next.
By:
HappyHibby
When: 31 Jan 25 18:19
had a few glitches at Dundalk there...

CPU% never altered jamee.
By:
HappyHibby
When: 31 Jan 25 18:52
Dundalk 6:45...

glitching just as they went off...

closed the browser i was using down (Brave)...

ran CC Cleaner...

used the LV on GRuss and no glitching thereafter...

not sure if that helps jamee ?
By:
jamee1
When: 31 Jan 25 19:10
Why are you using such a niche browser?
By:
jamee1
When: 31 Jan 25 19:12
Are you sure the issue is not the browser? What happens if you run the streams in Firefox, or Chrome, or Edge?
By:
HappyHibby
When: 31 Jan 25 19:22
i've tried the all jamee...

trust me...

i'm told CHROME is the one to use but it fks up on there too...

anyway i found something interesting...

Dundalk 7:15...

opened up Brave again and it was glitching...

i closed it down and opened the race on Gruss...

and it was glitching...

closed it and ran CC Cleaner...

opened the race on Gruss again and no glitching...

so could it be something in the background causing the glitching (that is there when a browser is either running or hasn't been cleaned out by CC Cleaner ?).

coz that was pretty clear jamee.
By:
HappyHibby
When: 31 Jan 25 19:29
btw i've tried all the browsers in INCOGNITO mode also...

still got the glitching.

It's not the browser, it's the low latency HLS codec Betfair stream with. The lower the latency, the worse it is. The video is delivered in files. The files are between 1s and 2s in duration. If a single packet is lost over the internet, that entire file is lost and the video will glitch for the length of the 'file. Netflix and other streaming sites are similar, except those files are delivered to your TV reliably. Any lost packets are re-requested, but the re-requests add delay. Hence re-requests are Ok for movies but not for near live streaming
By:
Big Cat
When: 31 Jan 25 20:07
Actually, it's not BF who do the streaming, it's TRP
RMG use a much more efficient codec (webRTC). You're not streaming from BF
BF provide the player, but the streams come direct from TRP or RMG
By:

When: 31 Jan 25 20:08
Big Cat has appeared...!!!

cheers for the above...

but why does it not affect everyone BC ?

i know other people who get this yet some are prefectly fine...

i mean i'm FTTP 156mbps...

on a very quiet network (Netomnia)...
By:
Big Cat
When: 31 Jan 25 20:09
That's not even strictly true either because RMG/TRP/SIS or whoever send the content to an ISP and the stream comes from the ISP.
By:
HappyHibby
When: 31 Jan 25 20:09
i knew that tbh Big Cat...

we just access it from Betfair but it's the same stream on Purple also.
By:
HappyHibby
When: 31 Jan 25 20:11
so Big Cat...

given my internet is pretty decent imv...

why am i getting glitching on RTV BLV ?

and some folk aren't.
By:
Big Cat
When: 31 Jan 25 20:11
Packet loss is the enemy. One individual will experience packet loss over the internet and over the home wireless at a different time from another individual. The ISP from where the content is streamed may suffer packet loss at source (in which case everyone moans at the same time), but that's much less common
By:
HappyHibby
When: 31 Jan 25 20:13
so i contacted youfibre and they told me to do a Packet Loss test thingy...

i did it to betfair.com...

and it had ZERO packet loss...

i'm thinking i should have done it to another website tbh...

but i've no idea which one tbh.
By:
Big Cat
When: 31 Jan 25 20:14
Home internet connections are reasonably cheap. Your ISP does not guarantee a perfect service. It's just that most folk wouldn't notice if their service isn't perfect because they aren't doing it in on BF
The internet is inherently unreliable. It is a 'best effort network. Even if you paid 20K a year for a dark fiber into your house, you'd still get packet loss. Don't let the kids download their XBox games whilst you're punting for starters and that might cost you dearly!
By:
Big Cat
When: 31 Jan 25 20:15
The stream comes from 'the cloud' You do not know where it is coming from as 'the cloud' is everywhere
By:
HappyHibby
When: 31 Jan 25 20:16
it's only me here Big Cat....

nobody else whatsoever...

and like i say the Netomnia network will not be a busy one.
By:
HappyHibby
When: 31 Jan 25 20:17
i'm still not sure why it affects some folk and not others tbh Big Cat...

any clues ?
By:
Big Cat
When: 31 Jan 25 20:19
There isn't much you can do about it. Same for everybody. RMG is better than TRP because of the codec RMG's ISP use. That's also why RMG is a lot quicker. I don't know why TRP stick with their ISP and the legacy codec that ISP uses. I asked them once at a trade show and they didn't want to give an answer
