I never look at a Dundalk card and occasionally do a placepot. @ Kempton but I'm abstaining today to do something constructive. I'm not sure what exactly that is yet but I'll think of something.

Play nicely you crazy kids.

Something constructive? Build some bridges with the missus Slippy?

I will be attending Kempton and watching some of Dundalk!  You should try it, easier than Plumpton on Monday

I was due there tonight with my Dad but he's got pneumonia. Good luck mr c, report back on the attendance (and betting report of course!)

Hope he makes a quick and full recovery swifty.

My guess is about 40 punters will attend, most over the age of 60 and regulars. The balance will be owners and trainers, they have recently extended the owners and trainers so they can fit 10 extra tables. Ken Pitterson and trackman Andy Ayres from the Sun are usually there

The Butler/power horses are a mystery to me. 2 really well handicapped, granted the highest mark is a few years ago. One lightly raced 5 year old and an 8 and 10 year old. Seems strange to have kept them in training, it's all just a guess but I doubt any of the 3 will worry the judge tonight but will any of them show that have the ability to win a race, sooner than later?

cheers the dealer, he's out of hospital but very weak.

no money for any of those(yet at least) so you'd assume not tonight. 17 runners last 2 weeks, 3 winners and a second all very well-backed, any price the others and search party needed for them.

mr c, usually go in the panoramic, but hardly worth them opening it at this time of year, as you say mostly just o & ts attending.

Dundalk and Newcastle (AW) every day of the week would be a bookies wet dream
Report sparrow January 29, 2025 4:23 PM GMT
Rather Newcastle than Kempton but quite happy with AW meetings as usual.

nuther 26.0 shot at Dundalk.

basically impossible, chuck the formbook away and pick a number.

Soar Above maybe isn't finished just yet. Had he been kept to the outside, he would have finished a bit closer, in a softer race in the next few weeks he might pick a race up.

A splendid night for jolly backers.

I've never been to an all weather meeting, it just doesn't appeal to me at all.
I hope your Dad gets better soon as well Swifty.

There was a reasonable crowd there tonight. Panoramic restaurant third full. About 100 in the grandstand. 5 bookies.

Joe Tuite was representing the Beckett horses. Presume he works for Ralph.
Report swiftynifty January 29, 2025 10:12 PM GMT
cheers Slippy, i hope you backed a few of them.

mr c, not a bad turn out for a January night then. It definitely used to be busier when it was proper night meetings, the restaurant at least, the twilight k/o time is neither/nor , but bookies rule!
