It's one thing landing a gamble, but it's a real pi55 take when the trainer says things like that. Stable got lots of previous, normally laying them though...

i suspect there was a bit more than 20 quid e.w. invested here ...obviously when trainers start getting paid for interviews they will tell us so  much more !!!!!

And he had another runner in the race, ridden by Adam Wedge, that was tailed off last of the finishers tailed off. Is Wedge official stable no.1?

Too many trainers, recently, have got away with saying they have no explanation for improvement in form. But with this one the betting shows people were in the know. Will be interesting to see what BHA actually do, but I won't hold my breath.

plenty on here seem to think its fair game ,basically on the same principl lots of people  like/agree with rich people/tax avoiders etc because one day they think /hope they,ll be rich, avoiding tax etc in racing one day they hope it will be them in the no regards an 80,s shot, or a shorties that wont be winning today

Nicely tucked away at the end of another card, in a dire h'cap on a day when the CH fav was centre stage.

The 3 mules nearest in the betting never in the race. One jumped 3 and was pulled up.Plain

According to books record . 50s to  66 all way down to 6. Out to 14.
Then opened 14 on track

Put the thing up 14 pound minimum and keep it off the track for 90 days.

not good when an 80/1 poke is backed into 2/1 and obviously a plot horse.

Barney Curley was hailed as a genius when pulling off stunts like this.
Why is it any different?

Freedie. That's fine but without punters like me actually betting on racing the whole game is dead. Then the owners won't buy horses at all and all trainers will be on the dole.

Barney was not a genius. The real genius is sir mark Prescott but the difference is that his plots are transparent so fair to all punters alike

easiest to do away is do away with low grade handicaps ........and bring in minimum rating to run in a handicap......say 60 on the flat and 95 over jumps...........sick and tired of the needs this for a mark mentality of British racing,,,,,

A significant gamble was landed in the final race at Uttoxeter when the Evan Williams-trained Owl Of Athens scored commandingly as the 85-40 favourite having been available at 80-1 in the morning.

The six-year-old, who was a general 66-1 shot when betting opened on the race on Friday night, had been beaten 277 lengths in seven previous starts, but got off the mark in the 2m4f handicap hurdle when coming home eight lengths clear of Ghasham under Conor Ring.

What astounds me is how they did so well managing to keep this gamble under the radar. It's a large stable with many staff and owners - clearly many people even associated with the stable were in the dark. It's not unusual for this stable to have a gamble, but normally every bookie in south wales has a punter who has been given the nod three or four days before and they end up opening up at a price relevent to their chance.

I know somebody that has a share in a runner in that race

If this sort of thing goes unchecked (I’m talking about a huge pi$$ take not a little bit of a stroke) then there is no integrity in racing whatsoever and that equals far fewer punters

Makes me laugh the morons that admire this sort of thing, of course they aren’t paying out initial purchase costs and then monthly training fees, vet fees, jockey fees, entry fees etc. They’d soon be singing a different tune if they were……..
