Today I noticed about 8 markets in a row where the 'fire' horse won. This just doesn't seem to be a coincidence to me.
I am continually amazed at how much prices still move within the last 10 minutes before the off. One reason could be the ever decreasing liquidity pre-off, meaning that markets at say T-20 minutes have very low matched amounts, which could conceal large pricing errors. These will swiftly get corrected near the off when liquidity increases.
Or, there are a small pool of expert backer/layers who are able to form an expert tissue and with confidence pick off prices as liquidity increases
Or, more cynicly there is some form of collusion ref race results, which the persons placing the big bets know of. ( I am not saying there is btw, its just all these steaming horses winning just doesnt feel right at the moment).
Opinions, (aside from telling me to back all the steamers and lay all the drifters that is!)
prices have always moved dramatically in the last 10 mins, even before betfair started. the flames are an indication of the betting of the whole day/previous night, not just the last 10 mins. some days 70% of flames can win, other days its only 10%.

It looks like all the ice horses get beat some days and then others they don’t - the annoying ones go from 3/1 to 8/1 in the last few minutes pre-race and then out to 25/1 in the first furlong without apparently doing anything wrong that’s when you know you’re ****ed
horse then either immediately falls out the back of the telly or continues to trade at 25/1 when it’s travelling as well as the 5/1 shots before meekly folding at the business end of the race ☹️ (if you’ve backed it)

People obviously much prefer betting in a proper market rather than the early morning/night before nonsense.
