Looked worse than a 10lb claimer in that opening race at Ayr. Powder puff would be being too kind. Horse crossed the line looking as if he had plenty more to give, but the jock wasn't prepared to find out. To say the horse would have benefitted from a stronger ride would be stating the blindingly obvious. Sadly, it appears the jumps game is catching up with flat in terms of bridle jocks.

He's always been weak as a kitten, he is brilliant at quiet rides out the back though

I put a thread up the other day entitled Brian Hughes off the bridle after the ride on Richmond Lake...horrible to watch.

Thought he might've switched to the flat, weak as a kitten and as soon as off the bridle that's usually it these days

I've watched the replay and after the last the horse obviously had no chance of winning. it ran on at one pace and there was no point in flogging a dead horse. Ludicrous comments about a three time champion jockey.

maybe ,now you've only got around  another 500 rides mentioned on here over the last 4 or 5 yrs to describe Hughes as weak as a kitten to make excuses for,and people might start believing he,s as strong as an ox,GOOD LUCK WITH THAT,
AT HIS BEST HORSES AT LEAST USED TO RUN AND JUMP FOR HUGHES,don't even think you can say that anymore,he,s no worse or better than 20/30 other jocks up north but far worse than a good few down south and over the water

Talking in general about Hughes on a horse, it's just copy and paste him in the saddle. Flaps the reins around, one slap and that's about it from him.
On the downgrade and offers nothing these days
