surprised we didn't have another normal fakenham abandonment ,2 nearly came down after slipping on the home bend in 1st and been slipping there every race since, probably to embarrassed to call it off after recent callmoffs there re ambulance etc,etc

only thing they can do there is use portable fences have all racing on 1 (moveable) line, allow for better bends

Gearoid Harney has escaped serious injury after his nasty fall at Fakenham on Sunday, an incident which led to the meeting being abandoned before the last race.

Harney's mount Micronormous slipped and fell on the flat on one of the bends in the feature 2m5f mares’ handicap chase, propelling the jockey head first into the turf.

The Irish conditional, who is attached to the David Pipe stable, was treated on the track before being taken to Norfolk and Norwich Hospital with a head injury.

Given the nature of the fall, there was widespread concern for Harney's wellbeing, but Pipe delivered a positive update on Monday morning.

"He's battered and bruised and concussed, but thankfully nothing else major," the trainer said. "It didn't look very nice yesterday and Fakenham and the medical team were fantastic with him. When you fall on the flat like that, you don't expect it and go down quick."

Later in the morning, Fakenham posted a message on X that Harney had been discharged from hospital.

The concluding bumper on the Fakenham card was cancelled as the medical team attended to Harney, while Micronormous was none the worse for the incident.
