Very hard job to come up with a tissue, yet it is surprisingly accurate on the whole, ok with a few glaring exceptions**** ups/whatever you want to call them.
But why are they pretty accurate? Are the odds compilers really that good? Surely they'd all be pro-gamblers if they were.
Or do they subconciously influence the punter?
Maybe it's a question for Derren Brown but if you see a 3-run h/c debutant Mcmanus horse at 6-4 in the tissue or at 20-1 how does it affect your thinking?
swifty I try not to be influenced by drifters I make a subconscious tissue in my head around 4 or 5 horses and if any are significantly bigger they are the ones I concentrate on , I tend to play in races where most are lightly raced unexposed or even unraced types novice stakes /maidens etc . i think I have more of a chance against the odds compliers in these races. another thing I try to do is ignore the write ups and make my own mind up , I tend to look at the write ups after the race is over take the 3.15 southwell reading the write ups post race toughly the winner would be suited by further than todays 6f .

I think you do it the right way FOYLES. The amount of times I've told myself that one line from one person in a write up shouldn't influence me.
But the power of suggestion is real, I must admit it has cost me a few quid over the years, a couple of massive placepots missed spring to mind.
Are the markets strong enough that those few that are really in the know can force down prices that are holding firm by the thousands of smaller bets from those that may be influenced by a tissue or a write up?
Funny you mention the 315, was considering the winner but did read the one line comment and just watched the race! To be honest they wouldn't be my type of race generally, I leave those to you FOYLES!

it is hard not to be influenced by drifting prices especially a big drift that's where bog comes in handy I usually back something I fancy earlyish when bog comes into play if the price is right and go in again later if the price is still what I fell comfortable at , I will obviously have plenty of drifting losers and the hopefully an occasional winner .

big drifters do scare me off, in the early days I remember backing horses in the win market(at the tissue price) that went off as big in the place market, they ran accordingly.

15 years back i did all my own tissues on novice chases. Big priced horses did win.
These days betfair is only for smart punters. If a horse is bigger than its tissue it nearly always loses. Read into that what you will

I couldn't do a tissue to safe my life but I thought the point of them was to over time have confidence in your tissue to take what you think are inflated prices, not waiting for others who do tissues, inside info to take up the prices the night before, then you bet when the markets adjusted the next morning just so your covered by BOG,cant see what your gaining over me for example taking a price on BOG off race from 9 in the morning
